Merry Christmas!
I'll be spending it alone, working on orders.  I might make a traditional meal for myself or just hit up the chinese place I frequent.

Driving around this evening, there were 3 insane near-crashes, as everyone is driving like maniacs.  I don't understand how we let things like a holiday turn us  into raving lunatics.  To get that toy.  To make that gravy.  To suckle that tit.
.
Idk, it seems any event that people want to be perfect stresses them out too much.  I'm glad I don't suffer from that malady.  I'll have a margarita and wish Jimmy Buffett a Happy Birthday.

Nobody has ever died from jumping out of an airplane. It's been from the sudden stop at the end.

Many paratroopers in WWII  got killed getting caught by the tail/stabiser but  point taken

What is truly amazing is that there are people that have actually survived it.
I was watching "Why Plane's Crash" or when or sum such on the Weather Channel. There was a young girl - forget where/when got sucked out of a descending Air Liner when lightning struck it blowing a hole in the fuselage. She fell thru a canopy of trees  and into either hay or snow and lived relatively unscathed

So, what is everyone doing for food today, tomorrow, NYE, NYD?

Today will be homemade fried shrimp and pan-seared triple tail with a side of broccoli.

Tomorrow will be Alton Brown's Roast Turkey, with mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, cranberry sauce and green bean casserole.

Not sure about NYE yet - Costco will decide that.

For NYD, Feast of the Seven Fishes is on the docket. Here is my planned menu, with wine pairings:

Tonight it's smoked pork tenderloin and cranberry chutney, twice baked potatoes, jalapeno sausage cheese grit casserole, and my my mom's chocolate cake.

Tomorrow is basically Thanksgiving redux-- turkey, cornbread dressing, sweet taters, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie.

NYE we'll  be camping, so it's steak night cooked over mesquite coals, asparagus, potatoes au gratin, and Bordeaux, with a cava toast at midnight.

Tonight we have the kids, and keep them until 11 AM tomorrow when they go to their mom's.

So tonight is the fancy dinner with the kids, going to do tri tip and shrimp, cheese potatoes [a casserole], brussels sprouts, and then have some Christmas cookies (wife and the kids are baking all day) for dessert.

Tomorrow night we're headed to the in-laws. Wife's stepmom will be making enchiladas. So there will be lots of "fold in the cheese" jokes.

NYE I think is going to be Julia Child's beef bourguignon. Not sure what it'll be paired with.

NYD not sure yet... It'll be our last hurrah before trying to cut back on calories [and booze] so it might be blowing out the calorie budget... Hell, we might just order pizza.

Probably my favorite recipe by her. So many good ones.

Oyster Stew with grilled ham & cheese sammiches tonight.

Not sure if either daughter or both will be here tonight.

If both daughters can be here tomorrow at the same time I'll grill 4 Kansas City bone-in strip steaks I received as a gift. Mashed taters, veggies and plenty of wine.

NYE I'm attending a party at my cousin's house.  I'll let the ladies provide the food.  It's usually party snacks.  I could take a summer sausage & cheese tray.  I'll have a fresh bottle of Bombay and tonic and limes.

not sure about NYD.  Whatever sounds good at the time with football.  Smoked beef sausage from Kiolbassa, San Antonio and homemade kraut will be a top contender

Recipe calls for three glasses of red wine. I'll have to convince my wife that no, two of those aren't for the chef :57:
