This was my Christmas letter composed today:
Greetings and Felicitations. We wish you a prosperous New Year and Merry Christmas. We're doing fine in the ATL, it's quite warm today, we'll be getting cold soonish though.
2025 was a good year for us, overall, travels of course was a highlight. We did a 29 day cruise in Asia starting in Seoul and ending in Qatar. We did another 12 day cruise starting and ending in Rome seeing parts of Greece and Cannes, FR with some friends. We enjoy seeing brief pieces of cities and think about maybe returning for a longer visit. We have two more scheduled in 2026, one transAtlantic from NYC to Barcelona.
It was our year to visit Hawaii where we were joined by Kate and Ben for two weeks in Waikaloa. That is always fun, John was disappointed that the volcano stopped the day we arrived and started back a day after we left, but maybe next time if it continues erupting. John as usual will be trying to play baseball in Florida in January, as he did this past January. He signed up for both weeks this time, which is probably foolish at his age. One week is pretty tough on the legs and arm, we'll see how he manages.
Otherwise, we have enjoyed good health and done a lot of walking around the city here. We go to the park often, it's across the street, and the Botanical Garden which is inside the park. We have a number of good restaurants nearby. We have season tickets to the symphony and membership in the High Museum, both in the same complex a few blocks from us. The "city" part is to the west and the park with trees to the east, so it's a nice blend of urban and ruralish.
We always enjoy visitors, several decent motels are nearby, a lot of things to see and do hereabouts. Downtown is getting a rather large upgrade just before the World Cup arrives.
So, come visit, and have a terrific 2026!
