very impressed. have to be honest- didn't think Purdue stood much of a chance. Brohm is a hell of a coach though. I think Purdue is going to be super happy about that hire by the end of this year.

Might wind up being the most improved team in the B1G. This is the best coaching I can remember the B1G having in decades. There are a lot of really good head coaches in this leauge right now. It's crazy.

Special teams needs a ton of work.  Punt and kick coverage was bad.  Jones fumbled a kick return.  There were a couple fielded kicks that should have went out of bounds.

Specifically the one Jones fumbled. I was yelling at my TV *before* the fumble that he should have let that go out of bounds. And then it's a TO.

I was thinking the same thing.  Looks like Jones was injured on that play also.  There was another kick later in the game that should have been let go as well.
Purdue cannot make as many mistakes this Friday.  If so, and Ohio plays disciplined, the Boilers are in trouble, and we are in for a big week 2 let down.

I liked week 1 effort and happy so far, but need to see us do this against Ohio and give the same effort and defense make plays when they need to.  But, it is nice to look forward to see them play again.

Is it too early to say I love this coaching staff?  After only 1 game it seems obvious that Brohm + co. are a MAJOR upgrade from Hazel.  He gets it.  He gets max effort from his players.  It was sloppy, but fun to watch.  I have no doubt Brohm was the right hire.

Special teams needs a ton of work.  Punt and kick coverage was bad.  Jones fumbled a kick return.  There were a couple fielded kicks that should have went out of bounds.

OL was surprisingly good, at least better than the last few years.  QBs had time to throw.  Run game needs more use/work.  I can't wait to see this pass game by mid season.  Brohms scheme will work once everyone is on the same page.  I love the vertical pass game.  QBs need to make better decisions, 4 picks won't cut it, should come with experience in the system.  Looks like we have a QB controversy now.  I think Blough is the better leader, while Sindelar throws a better ball.

Even though the defense was shredded by Jackson, they made crucial plays at key times.  Front 7 was disruptive, I really think they are vastly underrated.  2 forced fumbles were huge.  Covering the middle of the field is still a problem.

This was a sloppy game by both teams.  Purdue was only a couple key plays from winning this game (Phillips dropped a sure TD that was perfectly thrown, Blough pick 6 swing the momentum).  The same could also be said for Louisville though.

I think I already have a bromance for DC Nick Holt.  Dude is a bad ass, constantly fired up and getting on his players.  He's so much of a bad ass he doesn't need a mustache at Purdue, or any hair for that matter.

Hang on, this is going to be a fun rebuild.
Great post, and I am with you on Nick Holt.  He has that look of a dude you do not want to piss off in a back alley and I love it.  We've so badly needed an attitude and edge and we had it there.
Sure we got torched pretty badly by Jackson but keep in mind we have an all new secondary.  I loved seeing the pass rush early but Lou adjusted and stopped it most of the last 3 quarters.
I think the QB should be Blough but he really does need to cut the turnovers.  I may be wrong but I get the iddea that Brohm doesn't feel like Blough is his guy and is giving the younger Sindelar the benefit of the doubt.
Hopefully we best a decent Ohio team by 2 scores this Friday and not flush away the good feelings from Saturday.
