This is what I think is weird, that you're arguing over this point?  Outside of primetime, ABC and Fox take their next pick and put it at 11, not 2:30.  The proof is in the pudding, so to speak.

You can doubt that this is the correct course of action, but it's certainly the course of action that the network executives choose to take, for whatever reasons.

(And those reasons, are their market research...)
I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT

But seriously, I don't think the bolded part is the case (on the ABC side), and think it's a relatively recent development on the Fox side. And the strategy behind it for Fox seems sound, i.e. to dodge the CBS game and the oversaturated evenings.

Just this year, ABC put a top 10 matchup (Iowa-Iowa State) in the afternoon slot with Florida USF in the early slot. Bama-Miami got the Week 1 3:30 with OU-Tulane at noon. Last week, the probably better MSU-Miami game was at noon, with the national power (Clemson) in a conference game against GT, so I guess that's a next pick situation (the only other well-rated game they had access to was SC-UGA, so a lean week). I guess when I see those games, I see very little pudding.

I guess we can just disagree on that.

You mean have a civil chat over some nice sandwiches that include a little fresh Duke's mayonnaise? How genteel.

I've never been much of a mayonnaise on a sandwich kinda guy.  I don't dislike mayonnaise like some people do, in fact I like to mix it with ketchup and eat it on fries.  But for sandwiches I typically use mustard.

Excellent, then all of those aggrieved fans of the programs being unjustly persecuted with those loathsome 11 AM kickoffs have no reason to complain and should just shut up and move along quietly. :)

I've had it.  It's okay.  Not really worth the extra calories IMO.

Mayonnaise in tuna salad, of course, is completely necessary.

In my neck of the woods this is the default, and they call it Fry Sauce.

If you want regular ketchup you have to request it, and then they look at you like you just ordered ketchup on a hot dog in Chicago.

I'd heard that.  Any idea how it originated?  It seems oddly, specifically Utahan, at least here in the USA.

I know you can also buy premixed versions in some South American countries, in Argentina they call it salsa golf.

I picked up the habit in France on one of my first trips over there.  I saw the locals dipping their frites in mayo, but a handful mixed mayo and ketchup together.  I tried that and was hooked.

If you lived in Hawaii you could watch Gameday at 3, and games would start at 6.
I've done it. Of course I was jet lagged on vacation, and just happened to wake up at 3:30. But it was a lot better than having the typical infomercial parade you'd have at that hour.

I spent a lot of time working in Newport Beach during my first job out of college, like, about a year.

I really liked college football starting at 9 AM on Saturdays, pro games at 10 AM on Sundays, and MNF at 5 PM.  Of course, I wasn't going to any of those games in-person...

Arctic Circle claims to be the ones that got the ball rolling on that.

It has definitely permeated the neighboring states. I've been served Fry Sauce in Idaho, Nevada and Arizona as well.

Some of those fancy burger joints will substitute the Ketchup with BBQ Sauce, and the Mayo with Ranch. Red Robin does this, for example.

It took some getting used to, as I'm one of those guys who orders everything without mayo. But once you get used to it, regular ketchup is just way too overwhelming a flavor.

Yeah I really only ever eat ketchup on French fries or tater tots or onion rings, and agree that the mayo cuts the intensity of the ketchup, in a good way.

I don't eat ketchup or mix it with anything - too sweet

mostly just tomato sugar
