B1G Divisional races headed into week 7

B1G-E:
  • 3-0 Ohio State:  Controls their own destiny (vs MN this week)
  • 3-0 Michigan:  Controls their own destiny (vs UW this week)
  • 1-1 Michigan State:  Controls their own destiny (@PSU this week)
  • 1-1 Penn State:  Needs two tOSU losses or one tOSU loss and a 3-way tie (vs MSU this week)
  • 1-1 Maryland:  Needs two M losses or one M loss and a 3-way tie (vs RU this week)
  • 1-2 Indiana:  Needs three tOSU losses and three MSU losses (vs Iowa this week)
  • 0-3 Rutgers:  Needs four tOSU losses and two more IU losses (@UMD this week)
B1G-W:
  • 2-0 Wisconsin:  Controls their own destiny (@ M this week)
  • 2-1 Northwestern:  Controls their own destiny (vs UNL this week)
  • 1-1 Illinois:  Controls their own destiny (vs PU this week)
  • 1-1 Iowa:  Needs two UW losses or one UW loss and a 3-way tie (@ IU this week)
  • 1-1 Purdue:  Needs another NU loss or a 3-way tie (@ IL this week)
  • 0-2 Minnesota:  Needs a UW loss and two Iowa losses (@ tOSU this week)
  • 0-3 Nebraska:  Needs three UW losses and three PU losses (@ NU this week)

The big game this week is UW @ M because those are two of the three teams still undefeated in B1G play:

A Michigan win helps the B1G-W contenders, mostly Iowa.

A Wisconsin win helps the B1G-E contenders except that it might actually hurt PSU.  This is a bit complex but the reason is that PSU would almost certainly win a three-way tie with tOSU and M but would lose a two-way tie with just Ohio State.  At this point PSU's best chance is probably a three-way tie with tOSU and M.
