Last Breaths of a Dying Season SOC 10/6/18
« on: October 06, 2018, 06:56:45 AM »
Summer refuses to die, and this weekend gives us a highs in the upper 80's.  It's going to be hot and humid this weekend before hopefully giving out and letting fall get properly started.  The pumpkins looks out of place when everyone is sweating.

I'll probably be sparse again this today.  I'm going down to my parents' and to my uncle's, who has a festival on his farm every year.  But he's getting on in age and I'm not sure how long he can do it, but he's stubborn as a mule so we shall see.  In any event, I'll get to hear some good fiddle music.

Tonight will be smoked garlicky crab legs with a warm corn relish, mussels and homemade Belgian fries.

What's on everyone else's menu for today?

The better part of the day for me will be prepping the new place for the move. We are painting and changing out light fixtures to match our taste in decorating. Also a couple of things I want to tackle on the patio, like building a deck box and outdoor table, provided we don't get rained on all day as is forecast. We'll see how that goes.

Listening to Barry Alverez on the BTN,I agree exactly with his take.He said if they have to expand the CFB Playoffs go just to 6 games with the top 2 getting a bye. This saves on the wear/tear of the players - Ed Zachary

It has been hotter here than it was in July, and that is continuing apparently.  The sky is clear and deep blue though.

High of 88°F today and tomorrow.  Normal high is 10°F cooler.

Game in Athens is a night game with Vandy.

I was thinking of heating up some pork and beans from a can with chopped up hotdog mixed in it.

I might add some onion.

weather could be better here

best thing about 6:30 kicks is an afternoon round of golf pre-game

high of maybe 50 with little sunshine

not much cooking planned

a Charlie Boy sammich and a schooner for brunch at the bar

Yup.  And the next contract to extend it another 7-10 years will likely be signed in the next year or two.  They don't ever let it get within 5 years.

It won't ever go to JerryWorld.  It would move to home-and-home before that happened.  But right now both sides remain firmly committed to the Cotton Bowl.
