Eli Drinkwitz admitted Missouri tried to run it up on Kansas because he hated their Civil War hype video.. and somehow that wasn’t even the wildest thing he said after a 38-21 win.
Kansas turned the Border War all the way up with a hype video built around the rivalry’s Civil War roots, slavery, John Brown, “heroes and villains,” the whole deal. Drinkwitz clearly HATED it. After Missouri won in Lawrence, he said, “I was embarrassed for them, to be honest, and that’s why I tried to embarrass them at the end.”
And he meant it. Missouri was still throwing at the end zone in the final seconds.
Then Drinkwitz dropped, “We left Kansas bleeding again.”
BRO. Kansas brings Bleeding Kansas into the hype video, loses by 17 at home, and the opposing coach walks out admitting he tried to run the score up before hitting them with THAT line?? You better be damn sure you’re winning before handing your rival that kind of material.
Missouri and Kansas went 14 years without playing each other. Two games back into this rivalry and we already have Civil War hype videos and a coach publicly admitting the late-game disrespect was intentional. Put this thing on the schedule every damn year.
