Tom Deleone 1969-71

DeLeone, from Kent, Ohio, and Roosevelt High School, played on Woody Hayes-coached teams from 1969-71 that won two Big Ten championships. DeLeone was a three-year letterman and a two-time all-Big Ten Conference selection. He was a team captain in 1971 along with Harry Howard and he was named the team’s MVP at the conclusion of that season.

He was inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002.

Most recent number 54, LB Jordan Turner.

We gonna get a TJW pic when we get to 42?

42, as you may know, is the answer to life, the universe, and everything.

Brandon Spikes is pillar of Gators' defense
2x Consensus All-American LB Brandon Spikes
I think he punted this pick-6, because we were killing whoever it was against.

This year's 51 is a freshman who won't play. So, I pivot to C Mike Webster.

The only two-time winner of the Outland Trophy (1981, 1982).
One of just 14 players to win the Outland and Lombardi Award in the same season (1982).
1981 Big Eight Offensive Player of the Year. In the long history of the Big Eight, this was the first and only time a lineman won that honor.
First Nebraska student-athlete (regardless of sport) to be inducted into the CoSIDA Academic All-American Hall of Fame. For a school that rightfully touts its nation-leading number of Academic All-Americans, Rimington is still at the head of the class.

Gordon Appleby: A key player under Paul Brown, he was part of the 1942 national championship team and two Big Ten title teams. He followed Paul Brown from Washington High School in Massillon to Ohio State. He helped the Buckeyes to an undefeated season in 1944.

DE Vernon Gholston

Gholston helped win three Big Ten titles and four games against Michigan. His breakout season came in 2007, when he set the school record for most sacks in a season with 14 and was named an All-American. Though that sack record was broken in 2019 by Chase Young (16.5), Gholston still holds the school record for sacks in a game with four, set against Wisconsin in ’07. Gholston was taken No. 6 overall by the New York Jets in the 2008 draft.
