I don't think he was an asshole, he was just a lazy alcoholic, just like most of us here.  Difference is it also ruined his world class ability
I’ve actually seen him at bars a bunch of times and met him at a titty bar once- a friend of mine bought him a bottle. True story. He was honestly a super nice guy.

I think lazy alcoholic is a perfect description. He coasted in the NFL on ability and still made Pro Bowls and played in the NFL for a decade. Don’t think he ever loved it more than anything or was truly obsessed with it- he just happened to be freakishly good at it. And that separates the good from the all-time great who have that kind of god given talent and ability.

The whole #1 jersey thing was created to motivate him, and only after that did it become a thing.  He was reportedly half assing it in practice, asked for the #1 jersey, and Lloyd Carr, looking for anything to light a fire, said he had to earn it.  It had never been a thing before that.

Yup. #1 jersey thing never been a thing before or since.

He was born into a wealthy family, his father was a former NFL player and successful business man and I think his mom or stepmom was a doctor or something like that. He never had to struggle for $ growing up and he came from the era where the first rookie contract in the NFL was a payday if you were a top 5 pick. They didn’t change the rookie wage scale thing til like 5-6 years later.

I remember hearing Michael Irvin say he used to bust his ass because he was always worried about having to go back to the ghetto. Braylon got a $40 million contract as a rookie and don’t think he ever worried about shit growing up.

Jordan Travis is playing like a poop sandwich.

Yeah Keon Coleman is ridiculously good. MSU fans have to feel sick watching him right now.

LSU looks slow compared to FSU. SEC speed!
Do we need to talk about FL speed?

yeah he's not having his best night....Daniels for LSU is balling out though, almost single-handily willing LSU to the W.

I will say you can tell that FSU is relying on 2 transfer WRs.  Raw talent does a TON at WR, but I think there are moments when things break down that you need to be able to read each other.  Hell, Coleman wasn't even there for spring ball.

Fun, close game btw/ LSU and FSU.  Personally I'm glad to see FSU making noise again, it makes it more fun to root against them. :)

it's been really weird seeing all 3 of the big Florida schools suck ass at the same time. At least one of them is good again.

this game has been excellent to watch. Jordan Travis just had himself a drive there, he's settled in and is playing much better.

Jayden Daniels might’ve just lost LSU the game if FSU cashes in 7 on the int.

Daniels is a heckuva college QB, but I feel like he’s been overhyped to shit however. Better runner than he is passer. Rail thin, doesn’t have size to him. Very shifty but doesn’t have top end speed. Just an OK arm- honestly looks a little weak. Nowhere near a 1st rd talent and don’t see Heisman either- he’s not Tebow or Manziel blow the doors off the hinges in college good.

LSU DBs look like little baby children vs Florida State’s grown ass man WRs. It’s pretty funny actually. LSU DB tries to hit Johnny Wilson, hurts himself.
