Sure, I guess?

We compete with them pretty fiercely on the recruiting trail so I guess I'm fine with anything we can use to negative recruit against him.  And it does seem weird and unnecessary that he'd lie.

But ultimately, I don't really care.  Seems like some manufactured outrage.

He's been throwing players under the bus and on top of cherry pickers for his whole career. This behavior should not be a surprise to anyone.

100%. he is the biggest asswipe douchebag head coach I have ever seen. don't understand how any kids sign up to play for him. it literally blows my mind. I know Cade McNamara- who said he committed to ND in HS over Bama initially because of his close bond with Tommy Rees- flat out said he flipped to Michigan because of Brian Kelly. He said when he went on a visit after being a commit Kelly was standoffish and he thought it was weird Kelly never texted or called him even once.

I think it's more a "it's not the lie, it's the coverup" scenario.

Flat out saying you didn't say something when there's recording of you saying that very thing is, um, unwise?

It tends to lead to a pretty significant credibility gap...

He's not Shaggy, after all.

it's not even a big deal that he said that....like you'd expect a coach to think they were going to win the game and be confident in his team. it's just freaking weird man. he could easily just say i was confident in the team, in myself....i let the team down...i didn't coach the team, i did a bad job, i'm going to do better.

instead...he throws his team under the bus right after the game saying they all thought they were the Georgia bulldogs and now he's all like- oh i never said we'd win the game on my radio show and i'd never say anything like that. it's just...weird.

Isn't he also the yankee that tried to do a folksy fake-country accent to attempt to fit in with the locals in Louisiana?

He seems weird.  But also, he still seems to recruit pretty well.

ND has a State of Wisconsin kid on its roster right now who would be a Badger if Kelly had not left.

yes. that was also extremely weird. his first introduction to the LSU fans at a basketball game or something the dude went full cajun and did some fake ass louisiana bayou accent.

my guess is he recruits well because of his assistant coaches and he's at places like ND and LSU- which can get you in any living room for any recruit in America. you can at least be in the convo and get on top 10 lists for recruits at places like that. then of course at LSU in Louisiana you usually have the pick of the litter.
