Iowa v. Missouri - Music Bowl
« on: December 22, 2020, 12:27:23 AM »
It is in jeopardy. Kirk Ferentz and a total of 6-coaches tested positive for the virus. An undisclosed # of players described as, "multiple players" tested positive, and in-person football activities are paused. They are preparing "virtually."

They say they intend to play. I have no idea how that could be as the game is Dec. 30, less than 9-days away.

They would be playing short-handed.

Coaches have a 7 day pause, not 17 like the players.

coaches just get in the way

why not just put the speaker in the QB's helmet like the NFL, call plays from the press box

Dec. 26: Iowa is practicing again. They will be short-handed. Interesting about the pause for coaches v. players.
I thought maybe bombing downtown Nashville might put the game in jeopardy, but apparently not. COVID-19 passes so easily. With practice resuming I think the game could still be in jeopardy with asymptomatic spread.

Everyone who is practicing likely had a negative PCR test, so no further spread.

You'd think they'd be able to do that....but aren't there rules against it?  I know that Saban complained about not being able to coach wirelessly when he had it.

Either way it is kind of stupid.

Damn. I wanted to see Iowa smack someone around from another conference.

They will do it to themselves one way or another.

This game was just not meant to be played.

Bombing in Nashville
Iowa players pause practice dur to COVID
Mizzou stupidly lets players go home for Christmas and guess what?  20 players came back with COVID.

One way or another, this game was going to get canceled.

I'd much rather have the QBs calling plays in the huddle w/o too much help from the coach
like back in the 70's

but, that would certainly limit the number of QBs that could play the position
