With the strength of schedule (Iowa plays Ohio State, Michigan State, and played Penn State), it is critical to Iowa's season they beat teams like Michigan State that are tough teams, but probably tough within the second division of the Big Ten.
I think this is a good point.  Iowa's crossovers are:
  • vs Penn State (already lost)
  • @ Michigan State (this game)
  • vs Ohio State

Wisconsin's crossovers are:
  • vs Maryland
  • @ Indiana
  • vs Michigan
Additionally, Wisconsin hosts the Iowa/Wisconsin game on 11/11.  I think this is a big reason why basically everybody picked Wisconsin to win the division.  Iowa could be a better team than Wisconsin and still lose the division race based simply on a tougher cross-division draw and travelling for the Wisconsin game.

Wow, is Iowa MSU's least played opponent since joining among the 10 pre-PSU teams?
Michigan State's first year of BigTen football was 1953.  Since then their most frequent opponents are:
  • 63 games, Michigan (every year)
  • 59 Purdue
  • 57 Notre Dame
  • 55 Indiana
  • 51 Northwestern
  • 47 Wisconsin
  • 46 Iowa
  • 45 Minnesota
  • 45 Illinois
  • 42 Ohio State
  • 22 Penn State
  • 10 CMU
  • 9 WMU
  • 8 USC
  • 8 Nebraska
  • 7 EMU
  • 7 Rutgers
  • 6 Oregon
  • 6 UCLA
  • 6 Stanford
  • 5 Syracuse
Teams in bold and Maryland (2 games since 1953) are in the B1G-E with the Spartans.  Even if these divisions last it will take:
  • More than 20 years for Ohio State to become a more frequent opponent than the various B1G-W teams.
  • More than 40 years for Penn State to become a more frequent opponent than the various B1G-W teams.
  • More than 50 years for Rutgers to become a more frequent opponent than the various B1G-W teams.
  • More than 60 years for Maryland to become a more frequent opponent than the various B1G-W teams.

Nice.

If the fixed crossover sticks, then the Illini will eventually overtake the five B1G West teams ahead of them, and own that three spot, behind Michigan and Indiana.

I thought they already said it wasn't?

Starting RG David Beedle in street clothes, true freshman Kevin Jarvis getting the start.

Hadn't heard anything about Beedle all week.

Are you seeing the game? PSU game is one-sided and all I see on this crappy Fox channel is baseball.

Found it on FS2. FS is still crap. Planning truck racing that usually always runs over, before a game last week.

Trying to listen to it while video editing the UMD game.

If FOX is going to do 4:00 football, they have to start their MLB game at noon.  Second week in a row with major run-over.  No MLB games take under 3 hours anymore.

Feel like that is more or less how next weeks game will go. Bunch of running into the line. Turnovers will be difference.

It will be the most dominating 17-3 game of all time.

game went about how I thought it would overall. thought Iowa would be sleep walking a little bit and start out slow and that MSU would win by 4-7 pts.

Iowa is a tough team to play, they just stick around. But MSU has more talent on their roster and it showed. I really like the young MSU WR's.
