I'm really curious about how OSU is going to perform without Meyer.

I've also got my eye on Auburn, USC and Miami (teams my own has taken down in bowl games since 2015).

Right now, I like Washington to win the PAC, Georgia to win the SEC, Clemson to win the ACC and Texas to win the XII. So, I'll be watching them.

Me too. I feel like OSU got a master in Tressel, and then due to the circumstances of his departure it was clear that Fickell was basically an interim coach. Then they got their white whale in Meyer.

Now we're left to see who Day is and what he's capable of. He's job-hopped around the industry ever since he started coaching, with his only stint longer than 2 years being WR coach at Boston College. No head coaching experience outside of 3 games as interim HC.

On the positive side, if you look at his coaching history he's had multiple stops at the same team in increasingly influential positions. He spent 2 years at Boston College as a GA. He left for a few years, then returned for 5 years as WR coach. He left for a few years, then returned for 2 years as OC. Obviously he was impressing people who wanted to bring him back and give him more responsibility in successive iterations, which is a very good sign.

But "a very good sign" doesn't mean "ready to be head coach of THE Ohio State University Buckeyes."

I'm intrigued by this one as well.

OSU is interesting, as I think their gap between being pretty good and very very good hinges on one Justin Fields (and the coach of course).  If Fields has a near great year, OSU should be in the 11-1 range.  And he is capable of that, or perhaps in the bright lights and pressure he runs into problems.

Interestingly, I have seen some "projections" (which I take with a grain) that have Jake Fromm doing number one in the draft.  Whatever, presume he'd be top ten, and thus very likely to come out.  Fields could have take a RS (playing four games) and retained three years at UGA, probably starting next year and then going to the draft if he did well.  Speculation, but it should be interesting in C-bus as well.  The conference has the most interesting story lines I think.

I like fun teams with quirky offenses and defenses. But I also like teams that have sort of hope.

So I usually enjoy navy, but less so last year. I’ll find any option team interesting for scheme reasons. Plus a lot of the really high-powered spreads (WSU, Syracuse). I want to see if UK keeps that offense going. Intrigued by post Cheney UGA. I’m also happy Florida is interesting on O again (I suppose that means I want to see what Miss State is post Fitzgerald).

Wisconsin is obviously my team, but I love the little tweaks Chryst has in the run game. Hopefully there’s a pass game to match.

Granted, I have a big heart for this. I can get interested in probably more than half the teams, especially if a team I’m interested in is doing something cool. I’m weirdly mesmerized by Wake Forest doing more with less. (I do think Duke is oddly boring to watch more often than not)

Narrowing on on coaches is one approach, as noted above, both hot seat coaches and others who are doing well at lesser heralded programs.

Add to that new coaches and coaches with interesting approaches and you have a pretty good list.

(I doubt UGA post-Cheney changes the offense much because of that change, they may pass more because Fromm is a junior, they may not if they get well ahead in many of their games, which is one reason they have been run heavy.)

I don't mind walking on the beach when the weather is nice.  To go lie on the beach and subject myself to radiation emanating from a nuclear reactor is not my cup of tea.

The wife likes to lie in the sun by the pool.  I find the shade and read a book.  I tan a lot better than she does which makes her envious.

That bright thing in the sky is a massive emitter of RADIATION from NUCLEAR reactions.  So, NUCULAR RADIATION, folks, on the beach or by the pool, hitting your body, causing mutations and cellular damage and aging.

Indeed it is.  Radiation includes all visible light, radio waves, ultraviolet rays (which does the damage), gamma rays, X-rays, microwaves, whatever, as you well know.

The visible light band is a very small part of the entire spectrum.  We only see a tiny slice of what exists, for good reason.

Not quite the beach, but I’ll be lounging by the hotel pool this afternoon, not quite doing nothing; I have about 60 pages of proofreading to make time for, preferably not in front of the TV during Futurama re-runs.
