The Trump/Musk divorce is going as smoothly as one would expect.

Musk doesn't like the "big beautiful bill" and he shouldn't. Too much deficit spending and too much added to the debt.

China sneaking spyware into electronic devices....which is exactly what the US does as well. They spy on us something horrific, and we spy on them too. We spy on everyone.
No "We" don't insert undocumented and unknown and illegal spy devices into our tech equipment that is then sold to China for three reasons.

1) US companies are private rather than nationalized agencies, I work for one of the largest and no, we're not sneaking spy tech into the things we sell overseas
2) China doesn't buy much of our stuff anyway, there's really no avenue for this to happen
3) Much of our tech is manufactured in China in the first place, so again, no, we are not inserting any spy tech into the manufacturing lines located within... China.

If you're talking about spy satellites and whatnot, fine, but that's not what anyone else is talking about.

Chinese technology companies, like all other companies there, are effectively nationalized state agencies and they are under the direction of the CCP's military and espionage branches.  They can, do, and are, inserting undocumented spy tech into numerous devices that they sell overseas, including to the USA.  They've been doing this for decades.  As an aside, I'd suggest never buying Lenovo computers and bringing them into your home.

The second part is more insidious and even worse-- they're inserting undocumented, unknown, and illegal wireless receivers into infrastructure components like solar batteries and solar panels, microcontrollers, and all sorts of other tech that we use for critical infrastructure.  The intent is to access remotely and then compromise and gain access to the power grid, water systems, sewer systems, and any other critical infrastructure components they can interfere with.  This is absolutely just another overt act of war, in a long line of overt acts of war.

On the final part of your post, I'm sure you know I agree 100% on the risks we've undertaken, allowing so much of our critical technology and medical manufacturing to be offshored.  The good news is, some of that is starting to come back.

The White House isn't big enough for the narcissistic egos of both Trump and Elon, so Trump threw him out once he stopped being useful.

That's how Donald Trump works. Unquestionable loyalty demanded, none returned.

And don't worry. King Elon has no cache on the left.

There's nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are effaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

So basically meet the new boss, same as the old boss, all pathetic and full of shit

At least we have someone to hold accountable. And we will.

As for this?

Weird.  I haven't seen those commercials since college, and I was just thinking about them yesterday, for no reason, no idea why, after not having crossed my mind in 20+ years.

That was the first TV advertising campaign the company ever did.  For over ten years it was just print and trade shows and the like.

Musk doesn't like the "big beautiful bill" and he shouldn't. Too much deficit spending and too much added to the debt.

That was inevitable, and if Elon is surprised, he should outline his own plan for what to cut--which can be feasibly cut--in order to make it more to his liking.  It's one thing to gripe about it, it's another thing to offer a viable alternative.

From what I understand the potential debt increase comes primarily because of tax cuts.  Spending got reduced, but by less than revenue will get cut.  On a list of choices I don't care for re: the national debt, that's an option I can live with.  And I say "potential" because various people are still arguing about if the debt must necessarily increase, given they expect GDP to outpace it with the ability to eat into it.  We'll see....I'm skeptical, but I'm just noting I've not seen consensus on that at this time.

One thing that's true no matter what you think about it is the bill will probably pass because it has to pass.  This administration is DOA if it doesn't pass, and if congress did everything Elon thinks he wants, too many Republicans would vote it down.  And nobody on the right side of the aisle wants that.  Getting some or a lot of what you want done is better than getting none of it done.
