She says a lot of stupid things, but stupid she is not. Those can both be true.

I've read a lot of stuff she has literally said and view most of it as inane stupidity combined with weird conspiracy notions.

I have no basis for concluding she is smarter than average, and some basis for thinking the reverse.

Mostly based on activity before being elected.

It's hard to get a good read on MTG without major digging, as most stuff on her is written in a hit piece sort of way.
What activity is that?

I should also say, there are a bunch of vectors for someone to be smart and dumb on. Elon Musk is a decent example of that. In some ways, quite smart, in others, a dramatic dipshit.

I’ve not seen any space with that lady where I say, “dang, she seems smart.” I welcome information about that.

Smart or not, I think she is radically out of touch with most of the voters of this state.  She can win a primary, probably, and lose the general, probably by quite a bit.  Ossof is a pretty good campaigner and of course incumbent.

I don't think she could win a statewide primary.

That of course depends on who, and how many whos, run against her.  Kemp would have won uncontested basically.  Now the gates are open and I would guess we'll see 3-4-5 aspirants running, none of whom would have much name recognition like Greene does.  Maybe Raffensperger runs?  Dunno.

It's a possible Senate pickup for Republicans that just went from probable to probably not in my view.

Businesswoman.
Welp, best I can tell she "bought" her fathers contracting business (with her husbsand) and then started a gym.  Not sure what all there is to know about that, I'm always dubious about family members who came into a business on 3rd base.

FWIW, here's what wikipedia says about her

"Early career
In 2002, Greene's father sold Taylor Commercial, an Alpharetta, Georgia-based general-contracting company that he had founded, to Greene and her then-husband, Perry.[34][37][42] As of 2019, Greene and Perry were the company's vice president and president, respectively.[37] Greene was listed as the chief financial officer of Taylor Commercial from 2007 to 2011,[34] but a 2021 Atlanta Journal-Constitution investigation determined that she had no significant presence at the company.[43] In 2011, Greene stepped down as the company's CFO and began CrossFit training.[43]
By 2012, Greene worked as a part-time coach at an Alpharetta CrossFit gym.[34] In August 2013, she opened CrossFit Passion in Alpharetta with Travis Mayer, a CrossFit athlete. Greene left the business in early 2017.[44] In a 2015 interview, Greene said she and Mayer knew little about how to run a business when they started.[43]

It depends on . . .
That of course depends on who, and how many whos, run against her.
MTG is the loudest in the field so if it ends up her and like 5 others, she almost certainly wins because the other 5 will split the non MTG vote.  OTOH, if it is straight up MTG vs Kemp 1-on-1 then it all comes down to turnout.

Turnout is primaries is notoriously low and that is, IMHO, severely detrimental to our republic.  This would never gain popular support so I'm not proposing it in that way, but in a perfect world I'd like to force participation in Primaries by only allowing people to vote in the general if they voted in the primary.

The problem is that the centrists tend to be less inclined to vote so in low-turnout primaries you get leftist wingnuts controlling the D primary and rightist wingnuts controlling the R primary.  If that happens on both sides simultaneously you wind up with a general election the vast majority of the electorate has to decide between a D that they think is way to far left and an R that they think is way too far right.

Kemp would win any election in the state against anyone today, I think, by a large margin.

He's popular because the economy is quite good and he has avoided saying really dumb things.

Honestly that is one of the best ideas I've ever heard.
