Dr. Pepper is a huge brand these days, I think Number 2?  I never liked the flavor at all.

I had an English teacher in HS who literally was Doctor Pepper.  He wasn't a very good teacher.

I like Dr. Who and Dr. Pepper.

Mr. Pibb is Dr. Pepper that didn't go to medical school.

Makes me think of an old Mitch Hedberg joke.

We had MTV in 1988, so I remember What I Am when the video was getting regular airplay.

I just always remember her as "the cute hippie-looking chick", much like Lisa Loeb became "the cute nerdy-looking chick" a couple years later :57:
We were playing this game during a long car ride recently.

basically songs which were not released in the decade you thought they were.

At my high school we were required to call teachers, Mr. and Mrs. and if they had a PhD doctor.

It was kind of silly, but it did serve the purpose

I love these sorts of challenges.  Do you recall any that you came up with?

I used to play a game with my kids when we traveled a long distance, name a state tag we won't see on our trip.  If it was a short trip I'd limit it to east of the big river etc.

I got casette book tapes for one long driving trip, that worked well.

Mr. & Mrs. isn't silly
I'm guessing there were no PhD's in my high school

My kids were pretty good on long drives.  I'd take the middle bench seat out of the Dodge Caravan and they could sit on the back seat or with my permission lie down in the middle.  My son often would sit up front with me.  That was a useful vehicle, 5 speed transmission, cassette deck, pretty much optioned out for a 1985 vehicle, slow doesn't describe it.

I'd get annoyed on entrance ramps if some car ahead of me didn't speed up because I had no power to merge.  Speed limits were 55 mph back then, that helped a bit, though traffic moved faster than that usually of course.

The other odd thing is mileage on the road was around 25 mpg, which was "OK" at the time, but hardly great.  I  finally bought an Olds minivan with that 3.8 L engine and an automatic, a larger heavier vehicle with a lot better acceleration and it got about 26 mpg highway.  It had one electric sliding door which was a thing at the time.

Mt calculus teacher had a PhD and we definitely called him "Dr. Evans."  Kind of an uptight guy but he was a great teacher.  College engineering calculus was a breeze because of him.

We had 2 PhDs, and both insisted on it.  One guy was a total dick, so people used it, entirely sarcastically

my graduating class was 53 - I wasn't in the top 10% so, U of Texas wasn't an option
