I noticed on "Social Media" a LOT of comments about what "should happen".  We should this, we should that.  OK, fine, whatever, it's facile thinking to me.  There are reasons things aren't done, usually, like say thorium reactors.  I could list all the potential benefits while ignoring any downsides or reasons why we don't have them all day.  The same is true for "high speed rail" in the US and better food options and a better energy policy and better health insurance, or higher taxes on billionaires, or better quality candidates for public office, or "greener energy",  you name it.

But there are reasons, sometimes not appealing ones, why we don't have X or Y.  Nobody seems to want to deal with those reasons.

I have nightmares about learning all the names and structures of all the sugars, only to forget most of them days later.  Painful nonsense.

I still occasionally have the nightmare where I show up to take a final and realize I haven't attended a single class all semester.

A couple times per year I still have a nightmare where a semester is ending and I realize I quit going to a class I meant to drop, but forgot to, the drop date is passed, and my GPA is about to be furked.

That never happened to me, but it undoubtedly comes from my freshman year of college, in which I was disastrously unprepared to be in college, and dropped a lot of classes.

That is one of the few nightmares about school I DON'T have, probably because in UT engineering, you couldn't drop a class after the first week.  So it was never a thing.

I have similar dreams. Do they ever go away? I mean, it's been a long time.

I have a recurring dream about backing up in a car downhill and the brakes don't work.  This has never happened in real life to me.  It's very scary and wakes me up.

Well, I finally quit having the one where I show up to school or church in my underwear and I don't know how I didn't notice it or what to do about it.  And I used to have a frequent one about being in middle/high school and coming back from break and having forgotten my locker combination.  I still have that one every now and then, but way less often.

Interesting that others share some of my troublesome dreams.  Car going downhill with no brakes, forgetting to attend class all semester but showing up for the final.   Similar to that is trying to find the room the final is in. I find the numbered rooms on each side and dragging my hand along the wall to find the missing room.   An old one is trying to phone a number on a rotary phone but keep screwing up trying to dial it.

the college nightmares quit decades ago
I still have nightmares where I just can't seem to make it to the first tee box
