Some of the most financially literate people on this message board are not freaking out and predicting the apocalypse.  That should probably tell you something...

...an it should also probably tell you something about the motivations and experience levels among the people who ARE freaking out about it all.

The first part would theoretically tell me that ignorance isn’t bliss in this particular scenario.

The second part is a little muddier. Because ultimately there is a lot of adherence to faith in the world of politics and a disinterest in admitting being incorrect there.

If the last guy pushed these policies, I have this strange feeling that our message board would not be nearly as sanguine about them. But that’s politics.

It would have been if he had, but that was a globalist regime so it would never happen.

Just another insult on the 'no insults' thread.
Insult?

No, I guess ignorance is a compliment.

Every economist?  The bulk of major investors?

This post is hilarious.  As if this isn't an echo chamber skewed towards one party.  FFS

No, not every economist nor every investor. There's no consensus.  There never is.  Why would you expect one?

Regardless, feel free to continue freaking out if you feel you must.  No skin off my back.

Additionally, there are many views expressed on this thread and in this forum.  You keep using the phrase "echo chamber."  It appears you have no idea what that means.

Just because there are some people you don't agree with, you have to insult them and suggest group-think.

No insults allowed, though.  Right?

To still defend Trump when he's invented this financial problem all on his own is.....brainwashing.  This is solely his doing.  No one asked for this or wnted this.  His voters wanted more money and a closed border.  That's literally all they wanted.
No one wanted a trade war with allies.
No one wanted him to throw sawdust into the economy's fuel tank.

This is what happens when you put a colossal dipshit in charge....again.

And does anyone in the echo chamber want to address his talk of a 3rd term?  Hmm?  Doubtful.
Just because the Dow or whatever index you pick has dropped doesn’t mean we’re bad off financially. Especially when it’s a small sample size. Next week, it could end higher than it did this week.

so the markets dropping 10% would be taken as a sign of Joe Biden doing the right thing? Seems doubtful.

Because we’re talking “ globalists,“ what is sort of the end result of our anti-globalist economic plan from the government? Just chasing a favorable balance of trade? Are we importing some things?

Go read up on the deficit, the impact of driving assets into T-Bills thus lowering the ENORMOUS debt the US has to finance, combined with cutting disgusting levels of waste from our government spending, and finally clearing room for American manufacturing to be invested in.

Why do republicans often point to the stock market strength as the economy being healthy, but when iti's in free-fall under Trump, it's not a good litmus test?

Poo-pooing a 2-day, $6 trillion dollar loss due to one man's stupidity is kind of amazing.

Aside from all of our squabbling, I actually joined a site a month ago to start investing in index funds.  I got approved, but played wait-and-see due to you-know-who in office.
Not investing turned out to be the right move, eh?

Last count, we're now up to 50 countries who have buckled.

These include:

[color=var(--nd-color-fgPrimary)]Vietnam — Following the announcement of a nearly 50 percent tariff on their imports, Vietnam has immediately entered negotiations with the White House.

President Trump reported a “very productive call” with Vietnam’s Communist Party General Secretary to Lam, during which Lam expressed a willingness to reduce tariffs to zero contingent on the signing of a free trade agreement.

India — India has initiated discussions with the U.S. to address the trade barriers.

Officials are reportedly exploring the possibility of reducing or eliminating tariffs on certain U.S. imports and increasing purchases of American goods.

Israel — Israel wants to negotiate terms and potentially secure exemptions or reductions and has already agreed to scrap all its tariffs on U.S. imports.
Prime Minister Netanyahu will further discuss the issue with Trump on Monday.

European Union (27 countries) — The EU has proposed lowering car tariffs and increasing purchases of U.S. energy and military equipment in an effort to negotiate exemptions and reductions.

Trump has long complained about the EU’s unwillingness to buy American cars.

Japan — Japan has signaled a willingness to negotiate by pledging increased imports of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) and investments in artificial intelligence.

South Korea — South Korea is looking at possible trade concessions that would involve leveraging strategic sectors like semiconductors to reach a favorable agreement.

Thailand — Facing the prospect of billions in losses, the Thai government is planning to increase imports from the U.S. and reduce tariffs on American products to address the trade imbalance.

Friday was a good "buy day".

To your first point, the markets almost always perform better when a Dem is in office.

$6 trillion dollar loss???

where did this money go?? - someone may have suggested it evaporated

It did not evaporate
if stock were sold for cash, there's some cash floating around out there - maybe in a bank
