As of Feb. 25, 124 cases of measles have been confirmed in the outbreak since late January. Most of the cases are in children.

Given the contagioun level of measles, this looks like an outbreak to me.

yeah, no. 124 cases of measles is hardly an outbreak. And there have not been 124 cases of measles, per CDC's own website there have been 93 cases. And the CDC considers an outbreak to be 3 or more related cases. that's an average of 6.2 people per "outbreak". OMG WHAT ARE WE TO EVER DO! OMGERRRGG! OUTBREAK!!! NOOOOO! WeR aLl GoInG TuH DyE!

Gee, wonder if these outbreaks have anything to do with tens of millions of people from 3rd world shit hole countries coming into the country illegally, maybe?

The case reporting of measles varies greatly year by year. For instance in 2012 there were 55 reported cases. In 2019 there were nearly 1,300.

Much ado about nothing.

OMG coRrUpTiON!

How dare Elon Musk give the FAA free Starlink terminals to help patch their shitty antiquated air traffic control system which still runs on computer programming language from the 1950s. What a bad guy!

Measles Outbreak – Feb. 25, 2025 | Texas DSHS

The Texas Department of State Health Services is reporting an outbreak of measles in the South Plains region of Texas. At this time, 124 cases have been identified since late January. Eighteen of the patients have been hospitalized. Five of the cases are vaccinated. The rest are unvaccinated, or their vaccination status is unknown. Due to the highly contagious nature of this disease, additional cases are likely to occur in the outbreak area and the surrounding communities. DSHS is working with local health departments to investigate the outbreak.

Their definition of outbreak is having 3 related cases, not overall numbers apparently.

There have been 3 outbreaks (defined as 3 or more related cases) reported in 2025, and 92% of cases (86 of 93) are outbreak-associated. For comparison, 16 outbreaks were reported during 2024 and 69% of cases (198 of 285) were outbreak-associated.

I'm curious what the FAA is communcating via Verizon (or Starlink).  Flight plans?  Tower/ATC/Center comms are by radio.

Interesting geography for an outbreak.  Stunner.

There are no signs that this particular outbreak in Texas is a result of immigrants, legal or otherwise.  It's been stated that it's coming from Gaines County where there is a large population of Mennonites, who have historically had low vaccination rates compared to the population at large.  The one death so far was a child that was confirmed as unvaccinated.

Gaines county has 80 of the reported 124 cases.

A large population addition to Gaines County came in 1977 when a group of Mennonites arrived to start farming and ranching. In 2005, Gaines County became the number-one oil-producing, cotton-producing, and peanut-producing county in Texas.[5]

In early 2025, an outbreak of measles was reported. By late-February, the total number of cases rose to 124, and one death was reported. This the highest number of cases in Texas in the last 30 years.[6][7] This is the first measles death in the US since 2015. [8] The vaccination exemption rate in Gaines County is among the highest in the state, with nearly 1 in 5 incoming kindergartners in the 2023–2024 class not having received the MMR vaccine.[9][10]

The measles vaccine is good.  It's good for children, it's good for the country.  I have no idea why anyone would be stupid enough to attempt to politicize it.

Historically the hippy dippies on the far left have been far more resistant to vaccines than anyone on the far right.  What a weird world we live in.

They're an insular Christian sect, so, probably?  But their populations are quite small comparatively.
