Correct.

The problem is there is so much anti-vax noise out there, and half the population has below average intelligence, that people don't know the difference.

Statistically speaking, that is necessarily true, even if the entire population were geniuses.

What I heard RFK say is that once upon a time, we had a few vaccines that did a very good job of protecting against some very nasty diseases.  He said, in general, he's not against vaccines as a whole.

What he objects to is all the vaccines that they are trying to force on everybody now, some with no good reason or weak reasons, that have not really been put to the test as rigorously as they should or could.  He also goes to point out how autism has sky-rocketed, as has obesity, and other things that did not exist ~40-50 years ago.  He points to all the money flowing from pharmaceutical companies to the FDA, the chairman of this or that being on the board of safety oversight panels and all the conflicts.

He makes some really good points, if you can stand to listen to his damaged voice.  He has also, at times, said some sorta whacky stuff that gives me pause.

Vaccine came out in the 1960's. I got it at age 1. Measels, mumps, rubella.

Never had chicken pox.
I had the mumps, measles and chicken pox. Only one I didn't have was German Measles (Rubella).  When I was in elementary school, they lined us all up and gave us the Germain measles vaccine.  I didn't hestiate getting my kids the "general" vaccines, but I have no problem with people who don't vacinate their kids.  While not pleasant the chances of death are so rare from those childhood diseases I understand if people are concerned about the possible side effects of the vaccine.

I will not get shingles, flu, pnuemonia, etc. vaccines even though my doctor keeps pushing it.  I remember when my mom got her shingles vaccine and got the shingles from it.  Granted at the time she was one of 13 known cases of someone getting shingles from the vaccine, but still.  She was interview by the CDC and examined.

In general sense, what is the timeline for such a thing to become “proven“?
Well, the Measels vaccine proved immediately that it worked. If you got the vax, you couldn't get Measels. Unlike, you know.

The autism connection is what bugs me.  We've just done a better job of diagnosing it.  There was one widely debunked study that created that false narrative.

Are we way too reliant on pills?  Absolutely.  But questioning medicine which has eradicated diseases which killed millions, that are suddenly back, should be thrown in a pile with people who think they were probed by aliens.

Should we question some meds which are overprescribed, for which lifestyle changes could help?  Absolutely.  But treating problems is way more profitable than curing them, so here we are.  The problem is proven science is thrown into the same pile.  Maybe quit doctor shopping for boner and weight loss pills, but still vaccinate your children against diseases we thought were only still known through the Oregon Trail game

I mean, if you get the vax you can still get measles. But it’s much less likely.

The obesity thing seems like some weak correlation with obvious explanations.

Linking that and autism to vaccines seems like huckster behavior.

Less than 3 percent. Proven effective.

Autism and obesity are more likely food related.

This country eats shit food and takes pills to mask it.

I need to get the shingle vaccine, have had a couple of other friends with stories like MDT's and I want no part of that.

Have you hit 50 yet?  If so, you should be able to get it.  I don't think you can get it if not.  Or at least it's not recommended.

Why would food cause autism?
