Psh.  I don't know about y'all, but quite a number of grocery items have ballooned over the last few years.  If it's only that one item, as OAM said, I need to find where that is and move there, because our grocery budget has increased 30% from where it was in 2019, 2020ish.

On the educating people thing, it certainly can't hurt, and it's got to happen.  But I'm a pessimist due to my years in the medical industry and watching our patients at the clinic I worked for disregard everything they were told about their diets.  They just didn't care and lacked the motivation and the will power to change.  My college roommate is also a medical provider and he says the same thing.....everybody just wants the magic purple pill that will fix them and they don't want to hear anything about diet, and won't listen.  People are addicted to crap that's in a lot of our food, especially the cheaper food that low-income people can afford.  I haven't seen any data, but anecdotally, I bet the people in the worst health due to anything relating to diet are the poorest.  So I think it's also likely that in addition to motivation and will power, they may well lack the finances to change.

If it can be changed, I think we're talking about a glacial-paced, multi-generation change back to better food and improved health.  Bad diet is an entire way of life.
I think the change is underway.  Anecdotally among my family and friends, my generation is more health-conscious than my parents were, and my kids are more focused on it at a younger age, than my generation was.

"Big Food" can try to manipulate things however they like, but eventually market forces will dictate what is demanded and then supplied.  If the kids of tomorrow are eschewing less healthy choices and focusing on better foods, then the food providers will naturally shift their production to those items.

Edited To Add:  I will add the caveat that my family and friends are middle class or above, and I agree with the suggestions above that the poorest folks tend make bad food choices at least partially because crap processed food is cheaper.

I’m sort of fascinated by some of the resistance to the weight loss drugs. In part because it feels like people assign sort of a moral element to it, as if there’s something sort of not respectable about losing weight that way.

I actually tried it. Wegovy - was not eligible for Ozempic as I was not diabetic (I was close).

Didn't like the side effects so I stopped.

CVS is offering it for free and "giving" you $5 to get it.

I guess DOGE hasn't caught up to the CDC yet.

A lot of things go over your head. It’s ok.

The resistance to these new GLP-1 weight loss drugs are the litany of very real & dangerous side effects, their ridiculous cost, and the abuse and misuse of them.

They were designed to help with extremely overweight people with diabetes and you have people who get on them to lose 10 or 15 lbs and stay on them indefinitely so they won’t gain weight.

You could make an argument for the former using the drugs, but the latter- um hell no.

People in this country will literally do fucking anything to avoid personal responsibility and discipline. It’s fucking amazing. Losing weight is pretty simple. Eat less, move your ass. Anyone can do it. It ain’t rocket science, you don’t need Elon Musk’s brain to do it.

My doctor said I should try it so I did. Didn't last long.

So far so good, on the weight loss.

Started cardiac rehab yesterday.

I’ll say this, fix the food system here in America and I feel like people won’t need weight loss drugs.

Food we eat is absolute trash and it takes real effort to eat clean here. Most European countries it takes zero effort- the food is just clean and they have better eating habits.

Drinking a lot of wine helps too, so I've made an extra effort to emulate the Euros in this respect. :)

Agree 100 percent.

Processed food is very bad.
