That “access” isn’t about seeing something that could be hidden. It’s about being able to tinker with it.

To the second part, I suppose because giving someone with that many government related business entanglements who seems to have impulse control issues and little regard for rules wide control of government finances creates great opportunities for corruption. And frankly, Elon seems like a fella who would have no qualms with doing that sort of thing.

Shoot, a ton of this isn’t particularly legal, but we might just get to a point where no one wants to enforce the law.

I'm a little concerned.  But, my little concern is heavily outweighed by the hope that even if mistakes and errors and abuses are made, the long term good will be greater than the bad.

This is Ed Zachery the type of swamp stirring and waste elimination that many hopeful politicians have promised during campaigns for the past 200 years.

This is what Trump promised 12 years ago.  I was disappointed then, that he didn't do more to upset the status quo in the federal government.
If nothing else, show what could happen and scare the crap outta some people!
This.  In his first term, he failed to drain the swamp.  A lot of people voted for this 12 years ago.

Gulf of Crawfish.  As it always should have been.
See, now we’re talking.

I’m honestly not concerned one little bit about them shutting down or scaling back any of the government departments. Dept of Education, or any other. I do know that they contribute “something “ to education, but there is so much bloat, waste, and outright fraud I’m completely onboard with starting from scratch. It didn’t even exist until the 1970’s. There is a lot of things that are mind boggling to me, such as FEMA sending $59 million to hotels in nyc to house illegals. Now it’s being reported that there are people over 150 years old collecting SS, which can only mean fraud and gross incompetence on the part of the government.

I currently work for a university, and for some reason I'm lumped in with the accreditation and federal/state reporting people, even though that's really got nothing to do with me.  There's a lot of chatter about what happens with accreditation if the DOE were to go away (I kinda doubt it does, but it might be massively scaled back....we'll see).  Accreditation becomes the wild, wild west at that point, to some extent.  Like, it already is a little bit ever since accreditation stopped being governed by regional entities and you could pick whoever you wanted.  But with no DOE regulations, the possibility exists that some states say "We don't like your state's accrediting body, we don't recognize your degrees."  How likely that is, or what it could lead to, I can't say.

The bigger conversation is around financial aid.  A university such as ours relies very heavily on it.  A lot of things could happen without the DOE, and a lot of them don't include financial aid going away.  Again...it'd be a matter of exactly how things played out, and what the university's response/plan would be if things changed.  I work in contact with the folks who would know, and everyone up as far as the provost and vice-president say we really have no idea what would happen.

That doesn't address the criticisms of the DOE, I know.  I'm just pointing out that almost every action winds up having downstream repercussions that many don't know about, think about, or care about.

That isn’t what he’s trying to get.

And to the second part, he’s indicated many times he doesn’t believe in being limited by rules and such. Plus he has shown himself to be impulsive, erratic, and incredibly gullible.

I honestly agree with you that one person probably should not have this much power, but I don't really yet know what kind of power he has.  Sure, he is supposed to have "read only" access to the payments.

Elon is definitely one a kind.  I also think he backs a lot of it up, he literally invented the electric car business as we know it because he says he wants to help solve climate change.  5 or 10 years ago, he was considered one of the most hated liberals to most conservative republicans on nothing more than his stance on electric cars, even though the government was the one pushing for them.  So 5 or 10 years ago, he was nothing more than a shyster who used electric cars to get big subsidies from the government and used the hype of electric cars to propel his company to elevated market cap even though they don't have any outside market share.

Now, he's the same shyster who used peoples desire to help the environment and solve global climate change to fool everybody and propel his company to an elevated status (market cap) without the corresponding market share.

Nevermind that by many accounts Tesla makes a really awesome car, electric or not.  It's one of the most popular cars in America.

With SpaceX, the US is literally lapping the world in space domination by almost every metric.  More tons to orbit, more launches, for less cost.  He took 1/2 the money that Boeing did to launch astronauts to the ISS, beat them to orbit by almost 5 years, and now is tasked with rescuing the astronauts Boeing left "stranded" on the ISS.  I put stranded in quotes because they're really just logistically stranded, not truly stranded.

Every single launch SX has done for the Gov't, they've literally saved them hundreds of millions of dollars.  Not that the gov't cares, they'll just find somewhere else to waste the money.

So for me right now, Elon Musk has way more credibility than any MSM journalist, or crony politician.  Even with his Warts.

yes, I and most of us have some concern about repercussions that may be damaging in many areas.
Hopefully, calmer heads would prevail and the damage would be small and short term.

No doubt there will be headaches that will need to be solved.  I'd posit that the DOEd has done a terrible job at advancing American Education and we need to find a better way.

Question for you, have you ever really ridden in one or had up-close exposure to one?  I have only rode in a Tesla once, and it practically blew my mind.  Not just the acceleration, but the FSD (full self driving) is really advanced.

Ehhh, right now looks like some spouting off from a drug addled foreign elite. I’m sure the info will be out soon.
Elon Musk is an American citizen who has been such for 20+ years and has paid more in taxes than any American in history. Clever little dig on your part though. Not.
