Coleman Younger (January 15, 1844 – March 21, 1916) was an American Confederate guerrilla during the American Civil War and later an outlaw leader with the James–Younger Gang. He was the elder brother of Jim, John and Bob Younger, who were also members of the gang.

Standard time is tolerable in the winter (at least at this latitude) and bad in the summer. Hello full daylight at 4:25 AM in standard time!

Sen. Ernst Urges DOGE Leaders to Cut $1 Trillion; BEAD on the List

In a seven-page letter to the leaders of the Department of Government Efficiency, Senator Joni Ernst urged Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to give some ideas on how to cut $1 trillion from US government funding.  Among other programs, Sen. Ernst identifies the BEAD program as one of her ideas for “trimming the fat and reducing red ink”:
"President Biden’s so-called infrastructure program provided $7.5 billion to build a nationwide network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and $42 billion to expand broadband. Three years later, just 17 EV stations are completed and not a single person – not one – has been connected to the internet yet. It’s time to pull the plug,"

Last week, Iowa Communications Association’s Daniel Stalder and Dave Duncan had a meeting with Senator Ernst’s telecom advisors where BEAD was a main part of that discussion.  ICA identified some challenges with BEAD that Congress or the new Administration could hopefully address, but there was no indication that the Senator would later advocate to terminate the program.  We have followed up with Sen. Ernst’s office to get further information on her suggestion that BEAD funding should be eliminated.

While I'm a proponent of the 80s was the best decade for music argument, the 70s are a very close second. Too much focus on disco, because it's an easy target. But what else? The Eagles. Aerosmith. Led Zeppelin. The Clash. The Ramones. The Sex Pistols. Billy Joel. Bruce Springsteen. Fleetwood Mac. Black Sabbath. Pink Floyd. David Bowie. Queen. Willie Nelson. Dolly Parton. Lorretta Lynn. Waylon Jennings. Rush. AC/DC...the list goes on, and on, and on.

And it wasn't just that they were great acts, they were changing/inventing genres for the better. So yeah, we missed a little on Disco--but Abba was solid, just watch any girl when Dancing Queen comes on, and for real, Killing me Softly and Staying Alive are bangers--but more than made up for it with other amazing music.

The 1880s were decent, the 1780s were just starting to emerge into good stuff I think.

I'd probably lean to the 1820s.

1280s were pretty good, some of the earliest Belgian breweries were opening up around then.

The 80s were indeed awesome.  I'm lucky enough to have been young in the simpler times of the 70s, but then come of age throughout the 80s which is the best decade ever, and then graduated high school in 1990.
Ditto. Except I’m 4 years younger.

Child of the 80s, graduated in 90s  but I will concede 70s music is the peak to me.

Not that the 80s music wasn't terrific or 90s for that matter

Speaking of 70s music, anyone else watch the "Yacht Rock" documentary on Max?  It's pretty good, very interesting look at the LA music scene in the 70s and early 80s.

Thanks guys.

As my good friend used to tell me back in high school, "The odds are against the two biggest tragedies in US history occurring on the same date, but here we are!"

That was well before 9/11 of course.
