We all discriminate, it is just a matter of what we use to make that discrimination. 

I use to have a T-shirt that said "intolerance is a beautiful thing"  On the back it said Fredrick douglas intolerant of slavery, Susan B Anthony intolerant of women not having the right to vote. Nelson Mandela intolerant of apartheid, and a list of other people and what they were intolerant.  

I once told my daughter that I was prejudice.  You should have seen her face until I explained that we all prejudge things for various reasons, the issue is whether are prejudices are reasonable. 

BTW I have a very mixed family.  I have "adopted" an african-american whose father died and his mother couldn't handle him. A Pakistani girl whose father kicked her out of the house. 20 years later he calls me Dad and he is my son and I am in regular contact with her.  I have a Mexican daughter-in-law, a mexican son-in-law, a Guatamalan Daughter-in-law and 2 African-American sons-in-laws. For someone who has been considered part of the "religious right" (even though I am more of a libertarian) and supposedly a closed minded ignorant hick racist, I am quite proud of my family and how we are accepting of people.  That said I taught them to disciminate and they generally do a good job of it.

I was just reading up on the materials I was given in advance of my surgery (2 weeks from today).

It's a long recovery. Didn't realize how long it was. I'm filling out my short-term disability papers now.

Looking at 6-8 months for me. Shit.
