Illinois sucks more today.

Jussie Smollett’s conviction overturned in 2019 attack on himself | AP News
What a travesty of justice.

The Prosecutor was obviously politically biased and tried to sweep this under the rug.

These hate hoaxes are more frequent than hate crimes and I believe that we need harsher penalties for hate hoaxes than ordinary false reports.  Hate hoaxes are designed to divide people and build hatred between races/genders/orientations.  The people who engage in them should be penalized harshly to prevent that.

Some guy lies through his teeth and claims he was a victim despite all the evidence being ridiculous? Is he running for president?

In any event, he won on the issue I said he would win on, which was that they basically offered him diversion, and then tried to take it back after he completed it.
The problem is that the diversion was offered by a politically motivated prosecutor in an effort to sweep this hate hoax off the front page.  Also, one of the Presidential Candidates bought Smollet's ridiculous story hook-line-and-sinker.  No one that naïve should be anywhere near the levers of power.  Fortunately, she lost.

You clearly do not know all the details of the case, or how it shook down.

That bullshit cost me money as a Crook County taxpayer. I followed it closely.

He was convicted by a jury of his peers. In CHICAGO.

Stuff like this is one of many reasons Illinois is losing population.
That should have been reported as a campaign expense.  The whole purpose of this hate hoax was to make Trump's supporters and by extension Trump look bad.

It was proven that Kim Foxx was shady on the dismissal (and many other things), which is why a respected former Judge brought it to light. Foxx had no business dropping that case after claiming to recuse herself.

The case was reopened as a result, and justice was served.
Justice was served until the Illinois Supreme Court reversed it.

Foxx should be disbarred just like that clown down in Durham was over the Duke Lacrosse Hate Hoax.

These Hate Hoaxes are getting troubling.

So you admit you were wrong and Democrats are in fact more concentrated than Republicans.  Good.
No. That's not how the English language works.

It's always been a strange state to me. It's a state with a bunch of medium sized cities and none that are a true "draw".

I.e. I don't see putting Cleveland, or Cincinnati, or Columbus on my "must visit for a vacation" list. Just as I don't really have "Indianapolis" or "Omaha" on my "must visit for a vacation" list. But with Ohio, they make it up in volume lol.

To me, it's the opposite of what you usually hear about a place: "It's a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there."

The reason I say it's the opposite is that these medium sized cities seem to have most of the advantages of large cities, without most of the "big city problems" that really big cities have. They're never going to be the "draw" that NY, Chicago, SF, Seattle, Atlanta, etc are. But they also don't have a lot of the downsides that NY, Chicago, SF, Seattle, Atlanta, etc do. It just seems like a nice, albeit a little boring, place to raise a family. And when raising kids, boring and safe isn't exactly a negative lol.

So Ohio to me is the state where I'd probably say: "I wouldn't want to visit, but I might like to live there."
Ohio is unusual in having so many not huge but also not tiny urban areas.  Compare to states like Illinois and Michigan where the largest cities are Chicago and Detroit and #2 is a suburb of #1.

25ish years ago I had a class in Urban Geography and Ohio had more mid-sized+ cities than all but a few states.

Ie, Ohio's largest City (there is debate as to whether it is Cleveland, Columbus, or Cincinnati but that is a separate topic) isn't all that big.  None of the three are anywhere near as big as Detroit let alone Chicago but compare Ohio's 3rd largest City to Illinois' or Michigan's and Ohio's is something like 10x as big.

Well, when you are ready to, let me know.

Until then you have demonstrated to everyone that you simply aren't knowledgeable enough on this topic to have a discussion about it.

I mean, it's always the same story. I present data to consider, and you retreat into a shell of claiming I am stupid and ignorant.

I presented the data, you just rambled.

Look at Cook PVI.  There are, see above data provided by me, VASTLY more HEAVILY (20+%) Democratic than HEAVILY Republican Congressional Districts.

Also look at exit Poll data, Republicans win by small margins in big groups.  Democrats win by big margins in small groups.

These are incontrovertible facts that I have presented that you have failed to even address.  Deal with it.

If you aren't smart enough to understand it then just stop trying to debate with people who obviously know a lot more than you do.

The funny thing about Ohio is that while it doesn't have that one vacation destination, it has more cities I would want to visit, and definitely the most cities I would want to live in of any state in the country.  That's kind of the problem, is that everything is so spread among so many places, that there is no one go to place.

My oldest had a travel baseball tournament in Akron last year, and we went to a minor league game in Akron one night, and the NFL Hall of Fame the other.  In two different cities, neither of which would likely rank in the top 5 cities in the state.

Hell, effing SANDUSKY has the best amusement park in the world
hell I like Pa./Pittsburgh/Michigan just not times like tonite

Yeah, and I presented data that half of or even most of the counties in Ohio are heavily Republican by margins of at least 40%. You can ignore the data, you can disagree, you can wish it wasn't so - I don't care. But calling me stupid because you have no response is toddler level work.
