I have a random question, but it's not poll-worthy....just like to see if there's any general consensus.

Do you hold either OSU QB in higher esteem than the other:
Justin Fields
CJ Stroud
.
As in, when you think of them, do you rank one over the other?
Yeah. Stroud is clearly superior to Fields. Fields was as physically talented as any quarterback I've seen, but he was always slow on the trigger. Stroud wasn't.

This is the thing.  HFCS is in a ton of random shit you wouldn't even think it's in.  We infuse all the processed stuff with sugar or salt for no damn reason, besides our trained tastes to want it.  Trained over decades.

"Low fat" stuff = more sugar
"Low sugar" stuff = more fats

The FDA is a sham.

I  stopped eating dessert with few exceptions years back after reading about fructose.
Pretty much me too, except when Cindy brings home pumpkin roll. There is also this baker Eva originally from Hungary where I help out at the food pantry. She makes some cake forget what it is called with next to no sugar that is the most unique tasting cake ever. Have to ask her what it is called as she usually makes it for the holidays

Human tastes, incidentally, were not trained over decades, but over millenia.  Humans in 10,000 BC also favored things that taste sweet and fatty.  The reason is pretty obvious.  We are geared to like what we need in times of scarcity.  We don't like say tree bark for the most part because it doesn't contain useful nutrition for us.

As I said, limiting SUGAR intake from ALL sources is a very good strategy.  That means table sugar, HFCS, honey, though corn syrup is close to pure glucose, which doesn't have the bad actor (fructose).

I've backed up every assertion I've made with simple fact.
uh what? Honey? why?

Why honey is bad?  It's high in fructose.

Fructose is, in my view, the really bad actor because of how it's metabolized.  Honey is higher in fructose than HFCS-42 and about the same as 55.

If we used basic corn syrup as sweetner, I think it would be better.  It doesn't taste the same of course.

Different can of course be good, or bad.  I am entirely against RFKJr being anywhere near a position of influence on our health.

Would folks here want HFCS banned in the US?  Or limited?  (It's not banned in Europe,)

I think some of the dyes are dubious and have sensible alternatives.    They usually are at very low levels in our diets.

Anything else?  Pesticide residues come up for discussion.  Should we have hard limits on added sugar salt etc. in foods?  Should we ban "processed foods"?

I'd hate to see the FDA banning things because someone on line thinks they should without actual data.

They have almost all the same stuff in Europe as we do here, they just don't choose to eat as much of the crappy processed foods.  They also tend to live a more active, less sedentary lifestyle.

But I'll say this-- from when I started visiting Europe 30 years ago, to now-- they've gotten a lot fatter on average.  They're definitely on the "American trajectory" with respect to nutrition and health.
