I didn't know what TDS was
hopefully, because I hadn't been accused

I cringe whenever I see someone say, See he said this or that, he really means it.  That's horrible"

when for the past month they've said he was lying about EVERYTHING

It's not a think anymore than B(ush)DS or (O)DS or (B)DS were.  It's just a convenient thing for supporters of whatever party is in power to rely on, rather than defending their person's policy.

There is rightful, legitimate Hilary Clinton hatred, but I wouldn't label it HDS

Who else is interested in Tyson-Paul tonight?  I remember going to my single uncle's house in the early 90s because he had HBO, once boxing went to "cable" but not PPV.  But I can't remember the last time I watched a fight, and the sport is largely dead.  But I'm kind of interested, and I have Netflix, so...

Same.  There's nothing else to watch on Friday night, so I may take a curious glance.

The only big fights I've seen since the 90's, early 2000's, was Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.  Those were pretty good.

Boxing was at it's peak, and healthiest, in the 80's when championship fights came on ABC'S Wide World of Sports, on a Saturday afternoon.

I still remember watching many of the middle weight fights (for free!), --- Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, and Duran.  Good times.

I remember being into it enough that I listened to Moorer-Foreman on the radio.  I think the problem is multiple levels.
  • I wonder if we get here with football.  Guys used to box for exercise.  My dad joined a boxing gym briefly out of college, and I used to put on his gloves sometimes, but he was done by 23.  That was the only exercise his dad (my grandpa) got.  So his dad did it, was into it, and my dad enjoyed watching it with him, and then enjoyed watching it.  But it was so far from the scope of sports that my generation participated in.  I knew one kid, who started boxing in college.
  • As cable allowed more access to other sports, boxing became harder and harder to watch.  Even in the early days of cable, I could watch 10 college football games per Saturday.  I needed someone with HBO, and eventually PPV to watch boxing.  And at least in digital PPV is easy.  PPV was difficult in the 90s.  You needed a separate box, that you could either buy or rent from your cable provider.  And then you had to stand on hold forever to subscribe.
  • The heavyweight division was decimated.  Having weight classes makes sense, and the lighter weights have their advantages, but it's hard to sell best "pound for pound" fighters, when you knew they weren't actually the best in the world.  And from the mid-90s on, the heavyweight division was awful.
  • Floyd Mayweather broke the scoring system.  He just boxed defensively in the most boring style ever, and might be the last famous boxer

So what's the test for TDS?

Because I'm not going to lie to you: telling Congress it should recess so that he doesn't have to get his cabinet appointees confirmed, nominating Gaetz and Kennedy for AG and HHS, respectively, and putting Stephen Miller in the White House (just to name the most outlandish appointments so far) doesn't seem like he's just shooting from the hip with stuff he doesn't really mean. It sort of seems like it's exactly what he was saying he was going to do--that people keep accusing his opponents of suffering from TDS for pointing out.

I agree with your core point here.  Maybe I have TDS as well, I don't take it to the extreme I see in others (mostly on FB).  I also think being critical of Trump's actions is not "TDS", it's honest (hopefully) criticism and disagreement.  Now, when someone claims he will take away a woman's right to vote and own property .....

I do see some pretty amazing/comical fears in social media these days, but I saw some when Biden took office as well, and more when Obama took office.

As for seeking recess appointments, we'll see if the Senate goes along, they won't at least until Jan. 4.  The leading Republicans have said they plan to keep cloture.  I think/hope these guys undergo a robust confirmation process.

Yeah, people have gotten a little smarter about repeated head trauma, which makes boxing not so good any more. I did a ton of martial arts as a tween/teen, and would have some interest in getting back into it... But after 3 concussions during my college years (unrelated to martial arts), I really don't want to be getting hit or kicked in the head. People generally don't want to let their sons box at this point.

And as we've talked about a lot, with CTE and concussions it might be the case that football ends up there too.

My sister did, simply for exercise, but never against an opponent.  She was in the same class as former Michigan 5* RB Derrick Green

Also to add, I don't know if boxing is that way, but that's always been my biggest issue with UFC.  I've been at get togethers where its been ordered.  And I feel like every time I wander by the TV it's two dudes talking, and then I get another beer, take a piss, grab some food, and I come back and realize I missed an entire fight, and it's back to two dudes talking

All this talk about RFK's other things that might not be so bad is sanewashing. It doesn't change the fact that he's pro-polio, pro-measles, and pro-whooping cough. Hard pass.

For that matter, none of the first-day nominees deserve to be on the White House grounds without a ticket.

Doug Bergum at Interior is the only one so far that might be kinda sorta maybe qualified.
Which of the current administration deserve to be in the White House?

I can think of a couple.

Anybody nominated and confirmed "deserves" the position, I certainly might think they should not have it.

So true.  That was a great time for boxing.  Loved following it.  Hagler, Hearns, Leonard , Duran,  the fights were often on TV.  And the US had an interest in being a serious about Olympic boxing
