The good news is my first eye surgery went well, the second is next Wednesday.  It drives me crazy to see with one eye though.

I highly encourage anyone to go outside the normal medical system and have much more thorough blood work done, including comprehensive metabolic blood panels, before EVER taking a statin. Secondly, find a group of humans that don't simplify your blood panels to good(HDL) and bad cholesterol(LDL). It's far more complex than LDL is high and you should jump on a statin. Pharma has been pushing this mentality and there's massive financial rewards for the doctors that partake in high LDL, prescribe statin and get paid. Statins have so many terrible side effects that have downplayed far greater than they should be.

Also, if you have what they consider high cholesterol and have not done further blood panels and your doctor tells you to not eat red meat, eggs and get on a Mediterranean diet, run and find a new doctor. Metabolic blood panels and scans are your arteries are far more important that LDL levels.

survived the hernia surgery this morning

the afternoon was rougher than I expected

the doc warned me because there were 3 hernias to fix

the painkillers seem to be working

glad to have the procedure behind me

but, REALLY glad to have the election behind the country
I did this guy's rehab stuff after surgery.. honestly helped a lot.. and there's days now, a year later, if i haven't done any of these things, I can feel tenderness in that area. First couple days after surgery really suck, but 3-4 days in and you'll start feeling ok.

The election turned my oldest into an engaged voter. The results turned them into an activist (or at least a lot closer to one). That's kinda cool. Also kinda cool is that at age 20, they didn't overreact and decide the world is coming to an end--unlike those knuckleheads to talk about moving.

We all play harder when we're losing than when we're protecting a lead.

Some "liberal" types on FB have expressed some really horrendous fears about DJT.  I think the "Hitler" charges have take hold with them.  Maybe they are right, but taking away women's right to vote or divorce?  Shipping trans people out of the country?  Martial law?

I guess I take a more midrange view of what Trump will actually get done, there are a lot of obstacles for much of what he proposes, and I frankly don't think he understands how to "work the system" very well, he is used to being a dictator (and probably would like to be one now).

The folks on the right often expressed very dire and dark fears about Biden, none of which came to pass, things like a global economic reset, etc.

Thanks SF and 'Fro.

We met with the thoracic surgeon yesterday. Great guy. Very engaging, positive, encouraging.

A couple more tests next week, and then he cracks me open shortly after.

He's 5* on US News and Healthgrades.

Can't wait.

Project 2025 is a real thing.
I read a few summaries of P2025, for the most part, it seemed like a Heritage wish list "gone wild", more detail etc., but nothing really new in it, and nothing Previous Republican Presidents really tried to accomplish.  Maybe it's different this time.  The reality I see in Congress is even fairly small things are tough to get done.  Something consequential is pretty rare because it takes a year plus, and then it's an election year.

It's a bit like fretting over the "Green New Deal" as something real and not just a list of aspirations that never came to pass.  I think.  But it's a nice anchor to try and drape around a neck politically.

This idea of mass deportations won't happen either,  "they" will do some photo ops on it, and maybe some bad guys are sent somewhere after their prison sentences.  A lot of these folks who came in recently have requested asylum, so they are here "waiting" legally.  And as I understand things (which could be wrong), just BEING here is not illegal, even if they broke a law by crossing the border or over staying a visa.
