I highly encourage anyone to go outside the normal medical system and have much more thorough blood work done, including comprehensive metabolic blood panels, before EVER taking a statin. Secondly, find a group of humans that don't simplify your blood panels to good(HDL) and bad cholesterol(LDL). It's far more complex than LDL is high and you should jump on a statin. Pharma has been pushing this mentality and there's massive financial rewards for the doctors that partake in high LDL, prescribe statin and get paid. Statins have so many terrible side effects that have downplayed far greater than they should be.
Also, if you have what they consider high cholesterol and have not done further blood panels and your doctor tells you to not eat red meat, eggs and get on a Mediterranean diet, run and find a new doctor. Metabolic blood panels and scans are your arteries are far more important that LDL levels.
