Like when to see the theater? Or watch at home? I’m going to see Conclave tonight, which should be fun.

if you’re home, Palm Springs or Heat. Palm Springs if fun, but it is short. Heat is long and will take most of the night.
Definitely for home, getting pizza, maybe some wine, and gonna watch things with or without the fam. I saw Pal Springs when it came out and definitely liked it a lot. I think I've seen Heat, but I could probably watch it again because I don't remember it.

Is it a night for some dark comedy / dramedy (stupid word)? Not sure if this is just you or it's the family(/wife)... But two relatively unknown Patton Oswalt movies that are fairly good.

  • Big Fan: story of a hardcore NY Giants fan (Oswalt) who goes down a bit of a rabbit hole when he meets one of his heroes from the team and--without giving up too much--it doesn't go well.
  • Young Adult: story of a woman (Charlize Theron) who is an author of young adult fiction and her life (& love life) is a bit of a mess, and she learns that her HS sweetheart is getting married so goes back to her hometown to try to break up the wedding and steal him back. I'm not going to say "hilarity ensues", but it's darkly comedic.

You'll maybe get mad at me if you watch them and I didn't sell it well lol.

Both are about as much "comedies" as the sitcom "The Bear"--i.e. that there's some darkly funny stuff (for "The Bear" a lot of it is really apparent to those of us from Chicago), but neither is a comedy. But IMHO they're pretty good movies.

Casablanca?

I watched that on a plane a couple of years ago and it is about as good as everyone says.

Oh, and The Fablemans is surprisingly good for an autobiopic.

I don't think I've seen those, better put them on the list. I was remembering Heat was my college girlfriend's favorite movie, so I'm sure I saw it, but probably had other things on my mind in the dark with my girlfriend.

I don't think I'd put either in my top 10, but two movies I consistently think about are Lawless and Whiplash

Not sure I've seen Lawless, but absolutely agree on Whiplash. Great movie and definitely challenges you to think about greatness and what it takes

I'd watch her
Charlize is a fellow 75er. But she’s much hotter than me.

I need some movie suggestions for tonight. There aren't really even any local elections to care about. The county prosecutor is contested, and the Republican is kind of a nut, but I'm not sure anyone thinks he has a shot. Otherwise, not much. Issue 1 in Ohio is about gerrymandering and I don't know how that will turn out. The Senate race is vaguely close I guess.
Who is pro-gerrymandering?!?!?!
