Why do you say that? Her salary ($174K) isn't especially high for a young professional in New York City. She came out of private college (BU, I think) with some loan debt, and she has to keep a residence in two expensive parts of the U.S. (New York and D.C.).

She went to BU on a Fellowship. No debt.

Are residences in DC provided, or do the reps have to pay? DC is not cheap by any stretch.

no, I wouldn't be so sure either of my daughters would do much better - especially with a chunk of student loan debt

Hard to do. He was dead.

I doubt any Congressman can amass much wealth on salary alone.  And they report their net worth annually, and could lie of course, but that would be ... wrong.  They could lie to the IRS as well, and that would be ... risky.

Correct. As I understand it, there are several who share places in D.C. to try to defray the cost, but in the best of circumstances it still costs them.

AOC may have had a fellowship (schools like BU routinely offer scholarships to lower-income students), but she also left college with student loan debt. For political theater, she infamously made a payment during a congressional hearing.
