I liked him in Pineapple Express, and some of his other movies.
This has me laughing.

It is laughable that you cite "reality" while failing to address it or acknowledging that reality IS my argument.

Reality is that childish soft on crime leftist idealism reached it's apex precisely as crime rates peaked. Then the adults dealt with the leftist mess by adopting tough on crime policies and crime plummeted.

Crime fell so much that infantile morons forgot why we enacted tough on crime policies in the first place so childish soft on crime leftist idealism has regained traction and as night follows day, crime follows leftism. Blood on hands.
So much reality that you are blaming whole nationwide shifts in crime based on policy changes that you can't even name.

Joe Rogan has the "most popular show of any kind in the entire world"???

I barely know who he is.  But I'm old and don't fall for such schticks in general.  They come, they go.

Joe Rogan Is Wildly Influential - Newsweek

On the digital front, the Olympics boosted NBCNews.com’s numbers, which recorded its strongest month in over three years, reaching 123 million unique visitors in July. Today’s TikTok page had its best month ever with 140 million views, with the Olympics providing an obvious lift.

Review: Joe Rogan’s ‘Burn the Boats’ Netflix Comedy Special (vulture.com)

Kinda funny review.
Yes, he does. Google is your friend. That's if you old folks even know how to use it, that is.

Ah the classic "I personally barely know x, y, or z therefore it must not be that popular" bullshit out of touch boomer old people pull out of their decrepit stone age assholes. I don't doubt that you don't know who he is- his audiences tend to skew under 100 and well you're older than George Burns gramps.

There are other possible correlating factors, though.

There's the abortion/crime hypothesis. Roe was 1973, which if it meant that people in lower socioeconomic classes (socioeconomic class being positively correlated with crime/violence, often concentrated in cities) weren't being born starting then, those non-births that wouldn't be reaching age 20 in the early 90s could explain a "sudden" drop in crime rates.

There's the lead/crime hypothesis, which states that as we moved from leaded to unleaded gasoline, which the particulates amassing in ground soil disproportionately were concentrated in urban environments because of population/vehicle density, diminished, it resulted in less cognitive impairment which often manifested as poor outcomes, violence, etc.

I don't want to wade into your mess here, but this may not be as clear as you'd think.

I do think some of the soft-on-crime policies post-Floyd did go bonkers. Especially here in CA where we basically just said "you want to shoplift? go for it!" And I think there is now a much-needed backlash against that. But again there are a lot of other correlated issues, such as depression / substance abuse / mental health issues that were brought on by isolation [and likely fear] during the pandemic that could be involved in what's happened since 2020... I feel like we've been seeing more and more anger in society as a whole, and I don't think that's due to depolicing policies.

That said, though, I think we went the wrong direction getting lax on policing, and I think it needs to reverse itself towards actually enforcing laws.
It's extremely unclear. I don't live in California. I don't know what their response to crime is as a state or in localities. But I know plenty about Ohio. There was no shift to letting shoplifters shoplift or anything similar. There was no real change in policy at all. But Ohio was subject to the same trends California has seen, so I am going to be pretty dubious about particular government responses (as I am with all government responses) being the cause of or solution to all our problems.

There was a nationwide rash of car thefts. Kia and Hyundai didn't include the technology on certain cars to make sure they wouldn't run without a key or key fob. People eventually figured this out and posted Youtube videos on how you could steal these cars with a phone charger. Teenagers went around looking for these cars so they could show how cool they are by being able to hotwire and steal cars. Now, politicians will chalk up "leftist policies" or whatever you want to show that this is the root reason for the increase in car thefts. I'm dubious teenagers pay a lot of attention to politics and this impacts their decision making.

That would be a very weak case.
no it would not. i suggest you read up on in-kind donations. here.

MSDNC was so clearly obviously trying to help boost the Harris campaign with obvious lies and misinformation on their platform- and they were offering this service for free.

if a fat pig Manhattan DA can twist FEC laws into a pretzel to convict Trump on some clearly obvious bullsh*t of which he had no jurisdiction in the first place seeing as how FEC laws = FEDERAL not state, this case would be a slam dunk easy cakewalk.

MSDNC is doing free PR for Harris by trying to use one of the most popular people in the culture and twisting his words and lying and sowing disinformation to do so.

He was pretty funny back when he was a comedian.

I haven't yet, but I'm looking forward to that just-released comedy special to see if he's still got it.
a) he's still a comedian.

b) he's never been funny...as a comedian. he's a always been a mostly mid to bad comedian.

c) he's never "had it" as a comedian.

He's a pretty unfunny comedian, but a pretty good podcast host.

He's very influential to a very vocal minority of voters.  Just like Jon Stewart during the heyday of The Daily Show in the 00s
he's never been a funny comedian imo.

the comparison to Jon Stewart is not an apt one. Stewart was strictly political satire and had a very small audience. Rogan has a giant audience at least 20x what Stewart ever had and Rogan doesn't delve into politics all that much if at all- where again Stewart was strictly politics.

whatever happened to him?

Seth Rogen went on a run of some truly fantastic comedy films. haven't seen anything from him in what seems like a decade.

a) If so, I don't think he's had any released comedy specials in a long, long, time. Browsing Wiki, I think I saw Triggered from 2016 but I guess Strange Times (2018) didn't make much splash as I haven't seen it promoted on Netflix, and I'm a comedy fan. But even with that it's been 6 years since he's released anything.

b/c) Obviously "funny" is different for everyone. But I personally thought that for a self-proclaimed dummy, he had some bits that were quite incisive and hit things in a way that I've never heard elsewhere. There was some genuine thought in those. As opposed to someone like Louis CK who seems to have devolved into "let me say the most outrageous shit I can think of and get a reaction just from shock value". To me, there's value there in comedy.

All of this.

You can agree or disagree with his takes, but he is a very talented interviewer.  Much like Howard Stern.  I think he can make just about any interviewee entertaining, and its a wide range of guests he has.

He has made a follow up run of terrible films.  I remember seeing Superbad in the theater with a non romantic female friend.  I was worried she would be like "what the fuck is this?"  Instead she was in tears.  Thats still his magnum opus

Seems like the animated TMNT movie is the only movie jes written since 2016.  I actually did enjoy ytat movie though

He's done quite a bit of producing, and some voiceover work.

If y'all never saw the TV series Future Man, it's pretty wild and worth a watch.
