I don’t have a side.  Problem solved.
You're no fun  - a good pissing match can never get off the ground with an attitude like that. I'm telling Fearless on you

I've noticed, as have we all I surmise, that talking politics very very rarely changes opinions.

At best, it might lead someone to look something up, later.

I've mentioned friends of my wife's who are "Jewish" in a traditional sense and were talking about how Trump would probably send Jews out of the country (they were born here).  I asked them if that included his daughter.  They looked stunned.  I actually doubt they ever checked me on that.  And no, they were serious.

NEW YORK (AP) — A manipulated video that mimics the voice of Vice President Kamala Harris saying things she did not say is raising concerns about the power of artificial intelligence to mislead with Election Day about three months away.

The video gained attention after tech billionaire Elon Musk shared it on his social media platform X on Friday evening without explicitly noting it was originally released as parody.

The video uses many of the same visuals as a real ad that Harris, the likely Democratic president nominee, released last week launching her campaign. But the video swaps out the voice-over audio with another voice that convincingly impersonates Harris.

“I, Kamala Harris, am your Democrat candidate for president because Joe Biden finally exposed his senility at the debate,” the voice says in the video. It claims Harris is a “diversity hire” because she is a woman and a person of color, and it says she doesn’t know “the first thing about running the country.” The video retains “Harris for President” branding. It also adds in some authentic past clips of Harris.

The MSM is trying to re-define VP Harris to make her more palatable to the average US voter.  The MSM is going to have a hard time with that, IMO.  She holds the record on tie breaking votes in the US Senate.  Lots juicy issues there such as the inflation causing $1.9 trillion American Rescue Act in March of 2021 and the $1.2 trillion Inflation Reduction Act.
A decade of Victory over Penn State.

All in since 1969

I think any of her previous positions/votes count for relatively little today.  They might count for folks who would never have voted for her, but that doesn't change anything.  It might count for those who would vote for her every time, but that doesn't change anything.

As for those who MIGHT or MIGHT NOT vote for her, few will pay attention, I suspect, and be more influenced by the debates and what she says today.  They spend billions, literally, on TV ads, the majority of which says the "other candidate" is horrible.  Negativity sells, in a sense.

What we're hearing is "Trump = Hitler" and "Harris = Lenin".

Anything any opponent says about the other opponent bears close scrutiny, if it matters at all.

Free speech is duping gullible people and influencing them, and it's only going to get worse.
But that cuts both ways....

Call me a bigot if you will, but I don't think I can vote for a homosectional. Even if it was only a one nightstand.

This is interesting and probably not a bad thing from a health standpoint. The question is what are the consumers eating instead? Processed food from the grocery store, or healthy options?

We don't eat a TON of fast food but with the kids in so many activities, I'll admit we get it more often than I'd like.

McDonald's prices are crazy, they've absolutely skyrocketed over the past few years.

Most "cheap healthy" food doesn't taste very good to most folks, they won't eat "broccoli".  They want fat/salt/caffeine/sugar foods that are readily obtained.

Maybe pizza is a better deal now?

It's really tough to tell without a demographic assessment.

For example, take me. I'm well-off enough that I can handle the fast food price increases. But I'm so dissatisfied with the value proposition that I'm either going to mix up (fast casual or full-service restaurant) or just cook at home. For me it's not a matter of being priced out, it's a matter of choosing other options--some of which are more expensive.

But I'd bet that for a lot of the poorer segment, they're just paying it. Many may not have the knowledge or time to cook at home, and not have the money to go upmarket.

So obviously I don't have any of McD's data on this, but it wouldn't shock me if their drop in same store sales was from their most affluent customers, not their least affluent. Fast food has basically lost me as a customer unless I'm on a road trip or have such a severe scheduling screwup that it's a necessity. I don't eat it any longer unless I have to. (In & Out excepted, of course.)
