Yeah I have an idiot friend that became so offended at the USA in 2016 for electing Trump, that he moved to Slovakia.  At that point I lost track of him because all he ever posted was political crap and I unfollowed him.

Anyway, obviously it's harder to avoid political discussion when you're meeting family in person.  With my parents, I just told them not to do it, if they want to see me and their grandchildren visiting.

The last Facebook post I saw from that dude, was an admonishment to the entire rest of the world, for making bad decisions and choosing bad leaders that were leading the Earth over the edge of apocalypse due to the burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of the environment.  This was just a few weeks after he'd finished chronicling his recent 3-month trip from Slovakia, to Vietnam, to Singapore, to Australia, to New Zealand, to Malaysia, and back to Slovakia.  It was at exactly that point that I decided to unfollow his dumb ass.

Fortunately, I get alont with my kids well (including step kids).  I got into Facebook because they told me they used it instead of email circa 2006.  I think we started with "My Space" and then evolved to FB rather quickly.  

My kid in Vancouver is facing a decision as to whether to move back to Columbus, Ohio or stay there, so far, she's staying there.  She hinted it is in part political.  But it was just a hint.

The French, of course, can't NOT talk about politics, at least in France.  My wife barely mentions anything, on occasion, she'll ask me a question about someone.

I do know who she does not like, at all, which is fine with me.  She also does not like Macron, or any of their other candidates over there.
