What is a decision Biden really care about and likely made on his own?

There was actually some good discussion on this thread.  Now it's back to "my team, your team" like a bunch of kindergartners.

Stop it.

I'm tempted to delete this ridiculous thread.

No biggie.  You may be right.  I have a ton of respect for your opinion.  Very balanced and backed with data when needed.  Often a voice of reason here👍
I appreciate that, but also remember that I don't exactly have my finger on the pulse of "ordinary Americans", a group I don't feel myself a part of :57:

I don't watch the news. I don't talk to people more than necessary, and usually try to avoid anything political if I'm forced to.

I know a little about human psychology, in how people respond to the abstract (Kamala MIGHT be the nominee but Biden is still running) vs the concrete (Biden has withdrawn and the Dem party has already made Kamala the presumptive nominee) and how that change can make big differences in opinions. But that's an idea that may not be true in this case if people had more passion for or against Kamala than I was previously aware. Personally, I've paid very little attention to her over the last 4 years, not enough to form an opinion based on anything real. But I could be the outlier here.

Ending the war in Afghanistan
I was confidently told that this was Trump's plan, and his failure, back at the time.

Huh.

U.S. review of chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal blames Trump | PBS News

Since the U.S. withdrawal, Biden has blamed the February 2020 agreement Trump reached with the Taliban in Doha, Qatar, saying it boxed the U.S. into leaving the country. The agreement gave the Taliban significant legitimacy and has been blamed by analysts for undercutting the U.S.-backed government, which would collapse so quickly a year later.
But the agreement also gave the U.S. the right to withdraw from the accord if Afghan peace talks failed — which they did.
The agreement required the U.S. to remove all forces by May 1, 2021. Biden pushed a full withdrawal to September but declined to delay further, saying it would prolong a war that had long needed to end.

Yep. So obviously, Biden was pretty vocal about it at the time. Tough to say he make the decision when you cite sources saying he did

As I said, I THINK nearly all the time, the "committee" makes the decision, and then presents a plan to the President in such a way that there is only one choice to be made.

I personally doubt Biden made this call.  And I doubt Trump could locate Afghanistan on a map.

so, there's a plan to pull out

and then there's the plan and execution of how you do it w/o a shitshow

it was Biden's shitshow

he may have been boxed into leaving

it was the way he did it that was horrible

Hate it, love it, I'm just saying it is pretty obvious that this was a decision Biden made in opposition to his insiders, which was what was requested.
