I think KH will get a "Honeymoon" period and some polls will edge a couple points in her direction, initially, and then the polls will settle back to about where they were.

The KEY polls obviously are in the BG states which will probably be decided by less than 3% on election "night" and the following day.  My very rough summary of the electorate is 40% will always vote R and 40% will always vote D, nationally, but that doesn't matter when you consider a lot of the national polls are from NY and CA which favors Democrats in polling, but not in BG states.

KH was not an effective candidate on her own last time, we'll see if she can appear "better" this time.  This is more about appearances than issues.  She's still saddled with the feeling out there that something is wrong.  And the economy COULD dip between now on November.

So strange that it even got to this stage. It could be easily seen for several years that Bidens cognitive skills were diminished.
They (D's, including Harris) have been lying to us the whole time. They hid it until they no longer could, and most of us knew it.

Many seem to think this is OK.

That's actually the worst part.

The stock market so far is taking this all "in stride", the premarkets are up slightly.

I think it's priced in.

That's what I'm afraid of.

Politically (not partisan, just political strategy) the best moves are:

For Trump/the R's:

  • Focus on "the big lie".  Look, Biden's decline/infirmity were hidden from the American people.  Assuming Harris is the nominee, tie her to that by calling it something like "the Biden/Harris team's big lie".  He can also hit the media with this which helps in two ways.  First, his supporters LOVE attacks on the media.  Second, for any independents out there, catching "the media" in a pro-Democratic cover-up helps erode their trust in what is a pretty obviously left-leaning media.
  • Hit Harris (or whoever the nominee is) on their personal weaknesses but do it on a limited "as opportunity presents" basis.  Don't make the campaign focus on Trump vs Harris but rather Trump vs the Biden/Harris lying machine.
  • This is probably impossible for Trump but make the focus on the above, NOT yourself.  YOU have a 41/55 favorable/unfavorable split.  Making the campaign about YOU might excite the people at your rallies but it isn't a winning strategy because 41<55.

For Harris/the D/s:
  • Put the "Biden issue" behind the candidate ASAP.
  • Distance the candidate from the cover-up of Biden's decline/infirmity.  Unless Trump misses this (unlikely even for him), the R's are going to attack on the FACT that Biden's decline/infirmity were hidden.  Somebody NEEDS to be a fall guy for that and it CANNOT be the candidate.
  • Make the campaign about Trump not yourself and DEFINITELY not Biden and the coverup.

Yup. It's either going to be Josh Shapiro or Roy Cooper for VP.

Pritzker, Tim Walz, or Jay Inslee don't bring anything to the table that isn't already there. Mark Kelly is too valuable in the Senate.

I'm genuinely shocked at how fast Democrats from all quadrants closed ranks on Harris.

Cenk talked about this yesterday and was equally shocked.

If I'm running strategy for the D's I go with Shapiro and just assign him to work PA full-time from now until the election AND keep Harris OUT of PA. Two reasons to keep Harris out:
  • Shapiro won easily in 2022. Harris can only screw that up. Keep Pennsylvanians focused on the bottom of the ticket, NOT the top.
  • It frees up time for Harris elsewhere. Even if Trump spends boatloads of time in PA and ultimately wins it, you have still cost him that time without costing Harris anything.

Would he win NC today?
As governor or would he be a big asset in turning it blue?

And that's a problem?
I thought that was glaring at first too but I *THINK* @847badgerfan was simply replying to @Cincydawg 's comment which was that:
"She'll pick a white male from a BG state, someone perceived as being more moderate."

Do Jews count as "white"?  I think badge was questioning that, not suggesting that it would be a problem.
