The Trump Republicans seem, to me, to be more "right" wing in some areas, like immigration. Taxes, about the same I think. Isolationism? I don't know if that is right wing or not, but Trump is more isolationist. Free trade used to be a Republican position, now it's more protectionist. I don't know if that is more right wing. Climate/environment? I'd opine Trump is a lot more "right wing" than previous Republican Presidents on that issue.
I don't think John McCain was especially right wing, not on the above issues anyway. Bush II was not an isolationist. In my view, Trump is "different" than previous Republicans on his major issues, some of which I'd call "more right wing".
