I can’t believe the lack of info about the assassination attempt.

Now they are acknowledging that they were aware of him 3 hours prior.  And they acknowledge that the protocol is to not allow the asset ( Trump) to take the stage    And they can’t or won’t answer the “why” they did.

So strange- the easiest point of attack, identified beforehand, left uncovered.

Guy is identified as a risk long before the event.  Just weird.

Now they are saying there is a strong possibility of more attempts on Trump, based on their intelligence.

Just strange, and so secretive.
^this^

and this:
They actually watched him walking around that day.  They identified that he had a range finder. They watched him, lost him, and picked him up and photographed him.

They labeled him a serious threat on their main radio channel 10 minutes before Trump took the stage.
Are just catastrophically bad for the country, IMHO.

As I said above, I'm a strong proponent of Hanlon's razor

I don't at all think that it was a left-wing conspiracy but I think that anyone can see that there were MASSIVE lapses by the security team and those lapses are like pouring gasoline on the right-wing conspiracies.

The Trump Republicans seem, to me, to be more "right" wing in some areas, like immigration.  Taxes, about the same I think.  Isolationism?  I don't know if that is right wing or not, but Trump is more isolationist.  Free trade used to be a Republican position, now it's more protectionist.  I don't know if that is more right wing.  Climate/environment?  I'd opine Trump is a lot more "right wing" than previous Republican Presidents on that issue.

I don't think John McCain was especially right wing, not on the above issues anyway.  Bush II was not an isolationist.  In my view, Trump is "different" than previous Republicans on his major issues, some of which I'd call "more right wing".

As I get older I get more into free markets, and both parties seem to be moving away from that. I plan to spend the rest of my life railing against both sides as an angry codger.

I've mentioned before that Liberals, in broad strokes, want the US to be more like what they thing Europe is like.  Conservatives, more broadly, want the US to be more like it was in 1984 or so.  Or in some cases 1955.  Or how they think things were.  Some probably want to go back even further, no IRS, no income tax, no Fed, hardly any Federal agencies and departments, etc.

I find it interesting that major antitrust actions have almost ceased over the years.  The War Powers Act is almost dead letter law.

Yeah, the Secret Service is a a weird job - all your time and energy to protect people, except that rarely do they actually have to protect people. The Reagan attempt was in 1981 - a lot of the people in the Secret Service probably hadn't been born.

Protecting people clealry means preventing any sort of attack, not reacting to one that happened.  And of course they also worry about counterfeiting.

The protective details work pretty hard, or should, all the times that no one attempts to shoot or harm a protectee.  So, they are protecting someone ALL the time when on duty.

Yes, but a lot of their job is theoretical. Like, this is what we will do in the event X, but event X only happens once a generation.

I think they do much more than that.  Or should anyway.

Yes, I'm sure they do. However, probably no one involved has seen an actual threat on an actual roof with an actual gun possibly wanting to shoot at their protectee, so it makes sense that their may be some hiccups.

I hope the remaining campaign rallies for Trump, Biden, or whomever are all indoors.
A decade of Victory over Penn State.

All in since 1969

The fact that everything I saw online was that "it was an inside job by the deep state" or "it was staged by Trump to help to help Trump" told me all I needed to know about how divided we are.

In this day, why do we even still have rallies?  I can't imagine standing outside for hours, dealing with crowds and security, to watch an asshole say the same thing he always says.  I wouldn't watch either of them speak in my backyard
