I would love for a decent, normal, prudent R to run for president......but if any were on that debate stage in 2016, they were booed off the stage by the fans of the failed casino owner-turned gameshow host.

And now they're all trying to out-Trump each other.
Shrug. 

We have them, but he has dubbed them all RINOs, and his cult follows suit.  I dont think we had a good D option, but we had multiple good R options, and his minions ran them all off. 

I would say the Rs have moved away from me as well. But I don't view politics as so binary that this means I "must" be a D, because they're nowhere near me.

So I hang out on the island of misfit toys like all the other libertarians.

Yup, it's not linear, there's no continuum.  And neither the R nor D parties are anywhere near representing a majority of my beliefs.

It is difficult when you can’t ( like me) stand the candidates.   It is tough to plug your nose and cast a vote.   It is very conflicting. 

As Utee said so well upthread- neither side should be claiming the world will end.  

I have daughters- that is why I couldn’t vote for Trump in 16.  The way he talked about women grossed me out. Even though I hate Hillary more than any politician.  Couldn’t do it.   

Wanted to in 20 because of my personal backlash against the MSM and their obvious bias.  But didn’t vote again. Had some hope for Biden. Even though he’s a career politician with a track record of saying, whatever he thinks he needs to say for votes, he did talk about “the buck stops here with me” and “unity.”   But his time and office has been nothing of the sort. Everything that’s gone wrong. He has blamed on Trump, and I cannot remember a person who has been more divisive person in the oval office in my lifetime.   He has viciously attacked those who have different political beliefs than his tribe.  ( Hillary and Maxine got nothing on Joe)

So again- hate the choice.  So I move to policy.  Had Biden not capitulated to the far left since he’s been in office, I would actually think about voting Democrat.  But he did. And still is.  Now he’s brought up packing the Supreme Court again.  That’s a direct conflict to the constitution and a direct attack on seperation of powers. 

No, if he is reelected or a Democrat is elected the world will not come to an end.   I do think the country will continue moving to the far left and it’s an agenda. I just do not agree with.

And the other problem is that the parties have become so uniform, that you can say you are an independent, but 95% of the candidates on one side or the other all run on the exact same platform

Well, the problem is more that it doesn't matter what they campaign on. They can campaign on their individual strengths and say they'll be responsive to the sensibilities of the district they are representing...

...and then they go to Congress and vote party line 99.9% of the time. 

Looking at the new 538 poll, they give Biden a slight edge- saying if the boat were today, Biden would win 54 out of 100 times.  

I can’t believe the lack of info about the assassination attempt. 

Now they are acknowledging that they were aware of him 3 hours prior.  And they acknowledge that the protocol is to not allow the asset ( Trump) to take the stage     And they can’t or won’t answer the “why” they did. 

So strange- the easiest point of attack, identified beforehand, left uncovered.  

Guy is identified as a risk long before the event.   Just weird. 

Now they are saying there is a strong possibility of more attempts on Trump, based on their intelligence. 

Just strange, and so secretive.
