That was a truly tragic day in Austin history.  My dad was down on campus covering the event for the radio station.

I figure it's great that I can run at all at my age.  I'm certainly not fast.

What is happening in your neck (other than being sore)?
I don't run. I hate running. I suck at running, which means that at 250+ lbs, it puts a lot of strain on my joints. I assume I could learn to run with better form. But I hate running, so I don't bother.

I haven't been sore enough lately--something about the summer has cut my motivation to spend as much time with the weights as I should be. I need to be better about that.

San Francisco downtown is 'ghost town:' mayoral candidate Mark Farrell (cnbc.com)

  • Democrat Mark Farrell, former interim mayor of San Francisco, is proposing a 20-year vision to revitalize the city’s downtown.
  • Farrell is one of 13 candidates who have qualified for November’s mayoral election, according to the San Francisco government website.
  • Farrell is proposing a gross receipts tax incentive for businesses that relocate downtown and a second one for those who mandate workers come to the office four days a week.

I was a freshman the next year so fortunately I was absent

I don't much like it either, but I run 3-4 times a week, not that far.  I usually do 2 miles now, I used to do 4-5 in a session.  Then I go swim some, I'm worse at swimming than running.  We have a small gym here I hit up several times a week.  If I had done this much work when I was 30 I'd have been in top shape, but not now.

The hardest thing I do twice a week is throw.  There is a tennis practice wall I use and throw baseballs, which get worn out quickly, but I have a lot of them.  I come back with a sore back and legs, the arm is OK.  I throw "simulated" games mixing in curves and changeups.  When I was 30, well, I could throw a LOT better than now, duh.

I let myself go back in the 2000s and did pretty much nothing for years.

I feel like ever since my trip to Indianapolis, I've been dealing with a slight shoulder impingement on the right side. I must have yanked the suitcase wrong. It was bad enough for a while to stop the weights, and then seemed to go away. But I still get a little tweak every once in a while from weights, and the repetitive impact of hitting a golf ball can make it a little sore. I would have to think that any sort of aggressive or hard throwing motion would be right out.

I've reached the age where I know I can't wait any longer on trying to be fit or it'll get away from me 10 or 20 years from now and I won't be able to work hard enough then to recover from not doing it now. But the good news is that after 2 years of work, I'd have to say I'm in the best shape I've been since age 18.

Keep at it, at my age just about anything is rough, hard, and unyielding, meaning I don't show a lot of progress for my efforts.  Some, but not much.

I had arm surgery two years ago and that helped with the pain of throwing.  I still have scar tissue in my shoulder that he said he couldn't debride.  Swimming is probably the best thing I could do, I just am not a good swimmer, but I try.

Not that I know much about training, or how tall you are, but if you did want to run, you’d probably have to do lower impact cardio to start and then slowly ramp up.

Starting running is miserable, but if you want to be sore, that’ll do it.

There are lots of questions. I suspect we won't get a lot of true answers.

"The roof had too much of a slope" is not a true answer.

My wife is not a conspiracy theorist - far from it. But she asked me last night if I thought this was a setup. I could not answer her because I honestly don't know.

If it was not, then there was just a complete breakdown at every level, and people need to be fired.

That probably won't happen until January, given that the President thinks the head of the SS is a dude and has talked to "him".
asking obvious questions and having the ability to consider all scenarios does not make one a conspiracy theorist.

there were massive, catastrophic security failures that day by the secret service. it really could just be insane amounts of negligence by a failing security agency that is headed by a woman who was working in security for PepsiCo guarding bags of doritos and cases of mountain dew before Biden appointed her to her current job- an agency that is now full of DEI hires- and supposedly the dumb bitch running the secret service has initiated a DEI program to have 30% of the SS agents be women, people of color, homosexual, gender fluid, queer, what the f*ckever else- by 2030. Which is insane. How about we just hire the most decorated, lethal former special operators to protect the life of Presidents, former Presidents, and leading Presidential candidates? You know....MEN that are 6'+, 200 lbs.+ and are trained killers with combat experience. Is that too much to ask? Just saying. And how about the secret service is headed up by someone who has experience in combat or in guarding peoples' lives, not someone who was making sure Mountain Dew cases and bags of Cheetos weren't getting stolen?

lady needs to be fired by Biden effective immediately and there needs to be massive independent investigation into what happened and how.

He was clearly not well, not sure much more can be read into it, than that.
this. that is all that needs to be said. who cares if he was a democrat or republican or libertarian or independent or communist or whatever. the guy was clearly a f*cking nut-job to go and try to murder someone for no other reason than he did not like them or their politics. which he failed at and wound up murdering someone else entirely. it's just a tragic terrible thing for America and a stain on our nation.

hopefully both the Republicans and Democrats learn from this and start trying to tone down the rhetoric.
