How about maybe a stupid liberal anti-gun clown doesn't do movies where he has to fire something he knows nothing about?
That feels like an odd direction to take this.

On the plus side, probably good when Brady violations have some teeth.

Were I some Hollywood star who made a lot of public pronouncements against guns, I'd avoid being in movies where guns were prominent (presuming I could afford it).

I'm not sure I personally know how to check a firearm for real ammunition relative to whatever Hollywood uses.  In a revolver, they seem to emply something that appears like the real thing if a closeup is involved from the front.

Maybe the rear of the cartridges look different, one hopes they do.

Why do we as a collective seem unable to just say "sometimes accidents happen"???

He obviously didn't mean to shoot someone.
I'm 99.9% sure whoever loaded it didn't mean to load actual ammunition.
Always need someone to blame.  Often need to include politics in it somehow.

Shit, this is why driverless cars aren't the norm today.  When an accident happens, no one to blame.  No one to lock up.  No one to sue.  So we're not interested.

Can't develop and progress without someone to blame.

Some of that is true, but a person can still be culpable legally when "accidents happen".  One can be culpable by failing to act in some cases.

We don't excuse people legally in every case just because accidents happen.

So say the real and blank ammo are miss-marked.
Not the actor's fault.
Not the prop person's fault.
Maybe it's a mechanical fault at a factory.

Are we sending the operator of the labeling machine to jail?
Or the CEO of that company?

How many steps back do we go?

Accidents happen every day.  Sadly, some minute percentage of those accidents yield a death.
Still an accident.

I was pretty dubious on these charges from the beginning - in general using the criminal system to monday morning quarterback accidents isn't my idea of justice.

neg·li·gence

failure to take proper care in doing something.
"some of these accidents are due to negligence"

LAW
failure to use reasonable care, resulting in damage or injury to another.

I'd say hiring someone to take care of that specific responsibility removes the negligence

In legal terms its the difference between negligence and gross negligence

when folks cross over simple negligence to gross negligence that they might run afoul of the law

nope it doesnt if the person hired was under trained or had a bad track record

if you pick up a firearm, it's your specific responsibility

otherwise, hire someone else to pick it up

An actor likely never thinks they're holding an actual firearm, because they're (supposed to be) given anything with live ammunition.

therefore, it's his responsibility
