My issue was the graph being about what people think and not about any actual facts (whether good or bad).

Your distaste for me has blurred your posts into imagining me as being defensive.  Do better.
I don't have distaste for you. I actually think you're a good guy. Weird, yes. But good.

Data on the actual efficacy of our education system.  Facts, not feelings.
Do you have pertinent data or facts?

That's what I asked for.

The interesting part will be how education works for non-technical white collar jobs. Just because that path is a little less clear at the moment.

it will also be interesting to see what a slimmed down Academy looks like when it comes to certain kinds of research

Well, I can give you one example. Zurich Insurance was hiring our students and giving them paid internships, as a path to gainful employment with zero student debt.

They were one of many, but probably the most recognizable. Weber is another one.

What were they hiring them to do?

Many roles. Analysts mostly.

Zurich does a lot of things.

I've brought it up before and nobody responded until Medina today.

And you said you had data. Let's see it.
I must be the poorest writer on the planet.

I never said I had data, simply that data was better than feelings.
This is nuts.  How are multiple people misconstruing my posts?!?

I wasn't being combative or defensive at all, just shitting on the tendency for so many infographs and polls replacing actual hard facts.
I haven't once suggested or pretended the U.S. education stats are better than they are, but whatever they are, that's much more meaningful and useful than how people THINK they are.

That's all.

So, no facts, no data.   I guess we go with feelings.

I think it quite useful to understand the feelings of Americans.

You tend to be both terse and cantakerous. And then you blame everyone else for not reading into what you type to understand what you really mean. It's not a good combination.

Maybe instead of using whatever shorthand exists in your head and assuming we're all going to be able to divine from the pile of pig entrails you give us what you really mean to say, you can spell it out once in a while?

You must be correct.

But I did quote and reply to 3 posts, all of which spelled it out on my end.  To the point of overkill.  And still.......

I can't put the water in their mouths.  I am exactly how you say I am.  And it's because I'm routinely dumbfounded at the utter iniability for some here to simply read what I type and not "read" what they thought I typed.

I have not once suggested the US education stats are good or defensible or anything at all.  I never once even opined on them.
My complaint was that nowadays there's so many opinion polls instead of data.  That's it.  That's all.

And from that, I get multiple jack-wagons asking for data, demanding data to defend US education, suggesting I'm trying to defend US edcuation because I'm a teacher.

I am terse.  Cantankerous.
I'm afraid I'm also seen with shit-colored glasses by a percentage of the people here.  I'm often left expecting to defend positions I never suggested in the first place.

And that's bullshit.  Cincy's last post is bullshit.  "Hmmph, so you can't produce the data..."  No, dipshit, because that's not the point.
My strongly preferring data over opinion polls doesn't mean I need to produce the data connected to your opinion polls.

It's not on me that he's fucking lost.  Sorry.  I am guilty of failing to connect the dots for other people, especially online.  But I will be guilty of that the rest of my life, because you can't waste time reaching everyone when no one's paying you to.

And none of it matters.  :)

Has it occurred to you that we've been here well over a decade, and maybe the reason people respond in a certain way to you is due to a decade+ of scar tissue from a decade+ of terse/cantankerous interactions with you?

We've all known each other a long time. Don't treat every interaction like it's new.

Absolutely.

I guess their trauma changes all the words around on my posts.
