He had a lot of choices, for sure, and he chose well - she loves to shoot. That was their first date. He's very handsome on top of it, and very kind.

Looks nothing like his brother.

I always joked that one is from the milkman and the other is from the mailman.

Yeah, one of the malls near us was recently bulldozed. For a while they were talking about transforming it, but it would still be a primarily restaurant / retail plan. A couple years back they drastically reduced the retail portion, increasing the amount planned for office/residential spaces.

That was always one of the weaker malls in the area, but I can say a slightly more ritzy mall also nearby seems to have pretty weak foot traffic any time I've headed that way.

Malls are dying. Online shopping has really hurt them. Even now, I find my wife semi-frequently goes to the mall--but only because that's the brick & mortar location to return something she bought online and didn't fit or she didn't like. She doesn't actually go shopping there.

We have a couple that are still healthy. But generally they either have significant restaurant / nightlife options to draw people, or [in one case] is very high end shops that probably don't easily lend themselves to online shopping (i.e. Louis Vuitton, BVLGARI, Jimmy Choo, and a bunch of ones I can't recognize because I'm not a fashionista).

That said, I'm not sure we can look at the health of malls as a proxy for "the economy". It's not necessarily that people aren't spending, they're just changing the mode of spending to more online and less physical retail. I would think overall consumer spending is the more relevant metric.
Well, the entities who own those malls and those who hold notes on them are in trouble.

That's the bigger picture. I couldn't care less about the fate of Macy's, to be honest. We all know the money is going somewhere as people are still spending.

How is that big mall area in Newport doing?

I assume you're talking about Fashion Island.

Obviously I'm an outsider and know nothing about the financials, but from all outward appearances, it's healthy. Parking is always jammed, and foot traffic is always pretty heavy. It's an example of one of those places with significant dining / entertainment options. There's even a Rick Bayless joint in there (that I've never been to).

The other dining/entertainment mall that I referenced was the Irvine Spectrum, which has a ton of good restaurants, as well as an Improv.

And the high-end one was South Coast Plaza, which has ALL the ritzy stores you'd ever want.

Any "run of the mill" mall though is struggling.

just saw this and it really caught my eye.....like holy chit.

The two largest, most valuable hotels in San Fransisco have plummeted in value by more than ONE BILLION dollars (combined) in just 8 years. The 1,024-room Parc55 hotel and the 1,921-room Hilton San Francisco Union Square hotel are now worth a combined $553.8 million, down 65% of their appraised value of $1.56 billion in 2016. Tourists/business conventions aren't visiting San Fransisco anymore I guess.

Great job Gavin Newsom!

How can he disagree with some of it if he knows nothing about it?
you're missing the point. as usual. Trump is shooting from the hip talking sh*t in response to outright lies trying to link him to Project2025.

fake corporate media articles/cable news stories and BlueAnon ShitLib hacks on twitter have been droning on for months about Trump being the brains behind Project2025 and the new Fuhrer to Project2025's new Third Reich. It's all highly exaggerated, over the top fear mongering even if it were true- and it's not- because it's ALL BULLSHIT. The guy has nothing to do with Project2025. It comes from the Heritage Foundation- a jesus freak bible thumping neo-con thinktank (not exactly Donny's crowd)- and it's a 962 page white paper that Trump sure as hell didn't read nor write a single page of. If you think Trump has ever read something more than 10 pages in his life let alone 962 pages- you're nuts.

If a person claims "I know nothing about X", I don't expect them then to provide an opinion on "X".  It doesn't make sense to me, at all.  Then he wishes them luck, whatever that means.  It would be reasonable to ask him which parts are ridiculous and abysmal and which parts he might like.

As for Heritage, I don't see any evidence they are religiously motivated.  They might hide that I suppose.

As for Trump's lies, he lies, or has incorrect facts, when it's simply not needed.  I view it as a character flaw, everything about Trump has to be "perfect", including his Presidency.  And yes, I know politicians lie, but many of them are a bit more clever about it.

But I'm obviously not a Trump fan, at all.  He's the only person who could motivate me to vote for Biden (presuming I bother to vote).

I can't find any evidence this is true.  The current president is Catholic, the previous president was this lady.  They aren't really even neo-con, they've been "con" for decades.

This is from MSNBC so ...  I'd be very hesitant to restart nuclear weapons tests.

F-35 program faces scrutiny in Congress over cost and performance (thehill.com)
I  feel like we used the F-22 for like 5 min before jumping to the next thing.  I know we still use them all (last gen, this gen, next gen), but I feel like F-14s were used for 20 years, F-15s for a somewhat shorter time, and then F-22s for 5 min.

Can't those things go undetected while performing a 4G inverted negative dive with a Mig-28?!?  Don't they have the polaroids to prove it?!?
