Since this place does sometimes chat about policy, does anyone have a good idea for dealing with homelessness?

The most common plan seems to be too make what they’re doing untenable, at least until they move somewhere else, often with the government taking their property while it happens.

Or is the outcome that simply if you don’t have a place to rest your head, you don’t have the right to be at peace at all when it comes to the government.
It's a very tough problem.

Homeless comes from varying reasons, so picking one to start with is the first step.

Say a person falls on hard times, getting injured, outside of work, while working for a company that does not provide disability insurance or make it available.

The person is unable to work, loses his/her home, and is now homeless. This is the type of person that would seem to be welcoming of help, from family, friends, etc. and would take them up on it.

This is why cities have shelters, and they "work" for the most part, to cover unwanted homelessness, which is usually short lived.  In a shalter, if well run, a person can get cleaned up, get child care, get better clothes if needed, counseling, and help finding a job.  This part works pretty well, apparnetly.

The drug addicts and crazy people out there are not helped in this way, nor are the hobos.

I know in the city I live in, I was told only about one and five homeless people is actually out on the street.

it creates a real resources question, because the other four can much more efficiently be helped. But they’re not the ones that upset the most people.

Anyone who wants to build them. I don't find that motivation to build to be the major issue. Usually it is other things.

We do that, it's somewhat akin to building more freeway lanes, it doesn't address the core problem, at all.

If I list some of the major stated aspirations of Democrats, most would be heartily liked by most people, if I omit details.  And details get submerged by imagery in elections.

The Democrats just need, in my view, a nice looking "Banner Carrier" who can stick to platitudes and avoid details as much as possible.  Newsom may be that guy, he thinks he is.  Trump would say a lot of things about him, of course, and Newsom could just smile and look "handsome" and mouth platitudes.

Tax the wealthy.
Common sense gun control.
Reign in nasty corporations.
Clean up the environment.
Cut wasteful defense spending.
Renew relations with our overseas partners and friends.
Subsidies for the poor fighting to climb out of poverty.
Child care.
Health insurance.
Save Social Security and Medicare.

Etc.  All sounds great.  "We" are going to do great things, and the wealthy and evil corporations will pay.

Oh, and China won the debate last night.
China's in worse shape than the USA, regardless of what happened in the debate.

Homelessness is almost entirely a mental healthcare problem and a alcohol/drug problem.  You have to start there.

I don't make much out of "10% for the Big Guy".  I would suspect Hunter was negotiating for a better deal and that was a tactic.  I honestly do not think Joe personally benefitted from any of this.  His family did.
Conflict of interest as far as serving the people he sworn to serve, not that he a realized a damn thing since then

I do feel sorry for their citizens.  I work with many of them closely on a daily basis.

The core problem is that housing is expensive and that can only be alleviated with more of it
