Say it or not, it is your position
Pretty simple:
  • Illegal immigration should be at ZERO or as close as practicable to that. Even if you support more-or-less unlimited immigration, we should be checking ID's, verifying identities, and doing all that we can to avoid importing criminals and terrorists. I doubt that even you would like to see another immigration failure lead to another 9/11. Note that 9/11 WAS a failure of our immigration system.
  • We should take no economically net negative immigrants. This rules out all unskilled and most semi-skilled laborers because they'll never pay enough into SS and Medicare to cover their costs (the average American doesn't). You can't make that up on volume. Due to current SS rules being 40 quarters (10 years) this also rules out more-or-less anyone over 40 because even if the immigrant does earn a high wage, we can't possibly collect enough SS in 20-30 years of working to pay for 20-30 years of retirement and old-age medical care.
  • The goal should be ZERO immigrant criminals. We have more than enough criminals already so it is plainly ludicrous to willingly import more. Every crime committed by an immigrant IS a failure of our immigration system. That doesn't mean that one misdemeanor makes the whole system a failure but it does mean that our current system is letting in WAY too many criminals.
  • There should be a probationary period of 5-10 years during which any immigrant who becomes a public charge or commits a felony is deported based on the fact that allowing them entry was obviously a mistake. As part of this, immigrants should not be accepted from countries who refuse returns.
That's most of it.

All of that costs a tremendous amount of time and money for a benefit of...immigration is good for the economy. Most blanket restrictions are bad for the economy. We already spend a tremendous amount of money on restricting immigration, with no certainty that it has benefitted anyone at all. Most evidence shows it has just made us poorer. As someone who doesn't like to be poorer, call me pro-immigration.

I think the money and lives saved would be well worth it.  We as citizens should have the right to secure our borders.

Securing our borders should be a very high priority. Not only would it save money it would lower crime and help to decrease our drug problem.

There is no justification to allow 3 million illegals in a year.

I spend a lot of money on wine and meat and I believe this also lowers crime and decreases the drug problem. My imagination is relentless.

Sigh.
If you lower the drugs coming in, you'll increase their value and thus, increase crime.

We should fix the mistakes of our past and start returning the descendants of many Italians and Irish to their native lands.

The progeny of those greasy or potato-eating criminals should not be allowed to prosper from their ancestors undercutting our great land.

Our ancestors kept the border a lot more secure then Brandon is doing today

You have made many off the wall statements in the past but this one is an award winner

Our war on drugs needs to make sure not to hurt the supply train coming into this country from the south cause prices will increase

nice one

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/nchs_press_releases/2024/20240515.htm

There were about 75K Opiod deaths in the US last year.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2022/02/08/politics/fentanyl-commission-report

A 2022 (so Biden Administration) Government report shows that Mexico is the "dominant source" of fentanyl to the US.

How many people have to die for @MaximumSam to get things a little cheaper?

I would imagine drug traffickers care as much about immigration laws as robbers think about gun laws. That said, we need to restrict millions to help the lazy. Now we need to restrict millions to help drug addicts? Do we need to revolve our policy around making sure lazy drug addicts don't have to compete for a job? Doesn't sound optimal to me!

If people want something and you reduce the supply, what do you think that does to the price?

If the price goes up, what do you think the suppliers want to do?

Baltimore District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers[/iurl] just announced the Fort McHenry federal channel has been fully restored to its original operational specs (700’ wide x 50’ deep) for commercial maritime transit through the Port of Baltimore.

there may be a stretch of logic for illegal immigration of workers

there is none for the illegal smuggling of fentanyl
