Then let it fail.  No reason to outlaw it.  Let it sink or swim based on its own merits.
I’m not gonna lie, if it starts swimming, I’m gonna be pretty concerned

No ignoring traffic lanes when perhaps the cop was trying to keep from having a 2nd fatality is dangerous.
both are dangerous

cops have probably killed more people than folks ignoring traffic lanes

I'll wait for a final verdict and a name and link would be nice,ya know considering someone got killed there hrs earlier. And the cop may have been carrying out the obligations of his job when someone wasn't staying in their lane

Didn't have a lot of this going on back in the 70s, when a single income could provide for a family.
Oh really? All of this was going on in the '70's. '70's policies pushed families into needing two jobs. That's when it started.

Buying a home has become, well, completely out of reach for many. Increased demand combined with dwindling home supply, supply chain issues, and rising mortgage interest rates have all contributed to higher costs that have rendered homes unattainable for the average American.

What do you suppose is causing these issues?

this was a headline in the early 80s when interest rates and inflation rates were higher than they are today

I bought a home in the spring of 1989 anyway - I saved for years, sold a couple toys for the down payment and bought a very modest home.

My daughter and her husband did the same thing about a year ago.

It's not impossible.  Just takes some work.

It always has. Lots of people like to leave out that small detail.

70's were much better for the average folks.Good paying positions were plenty before US Industries started selling their souls & jobs out of country.Of course they never lowered the price of products(vehicles really). Now 79-80-81 it was shit but still long before Coroprate sold out practically everything we made here.We like to bash the left, but the righties are just as complicict if not more so as they already had plenty and wanted more. I'm not talking about small businesses.Every successful guy I knew had a plan stuck to it and busted his ass

This is true.

But it’s also true, both in long term national numbers and every anecdote someone has shared here, that the price of housing outpaces inflation at a fairly significant rate. Even the random examples people are thrown out here that aren’t over an extreme long-term look to be about 80% ahead of inflation.

So it always took some work. But now it takes notably more, just based on the cold, hard math. Alas, it is what it is.

I started my career in 1980, just amidst that double dip recession.  I tried to get a home loan in 1981, the interest rate on a 30 year was 17.5%.  I had plenty of income and a 10% down payment, but they wouldn't give me the loan.  The good part was real estate prices had crashed, so you had that as a benefit.

The developer who couldn't sell anything in the complex (condos) came up with a 12.5% ARM (3 year) and a $7500 second to get me to 20% DP and I took it.  I still lived like a grad student so it was pretty easy to pay it off early.  Sold it in 1987 with a $10 K profit.

Those were hard times, really, had I graduated a year later my job prospects would have been dim indeed.  High unemployment and 12% inflation ... stagflation ... yikes.

I think it facile to blame our economic woes on some single variable.  They often arise from some complex interplay that was happening over years.  But it's convenient to blame this or that President or this or that company.

I remember being extremely happy to get 8.5 percent in 1987.
