Eh, I'm not talking about wanting "nicer" things.  I see all the things that are out there for kids to have vs. what was even possible for me to have vs. what was possible for my parents to have, and it's not close.  Hell, even for adults.  If your family had a television, you had access to all of the tv programming out there.  Then, you had to have cable.  Now you have to have 15 different streaming services.  I'm not saying you have to have all those things, but those things are out there, and without them you don't have access to 100% of what available.
Doesn't bother me a bit.

I'm not saying it should.  I'm just saying that the amount of things you needed to buy to have access to 100% of television programming was far less in 1980 than it was in 2000 than it is now.

We have our basic 200 channels included in our HOA.

We get Paramount for free with my 247 membership (every member does - pay the $100/year already!). We get Pee Cock for football and hoops season only.

It's part of the "I want it now!" crowd, and also due to paychecks not covering what they did 4 years ago.
yeah, I'd guess it has less to do with the "I want it now" crowd- and more to do with interest rates and inflation.

the "I want it now" crowd is nothing new- that is and always has been the American consumers MO. this entire country is built on the back of instant gratification and debt. credit cards ain't new. this alarming rate of delinquency is. gee, wonder why that is?

Because of inflation that is occurring because of corporate greed!!!!!!
corporate greed was most definitely a reason, but not the main reason- there have been lot of reasons for the inflation we've seen the last few years. COVID and the shutdowns disrupting supply of everything worldwide, fed printing trillions out of thin air, Biden's complete and utter mishandling of the Saudi relationship and his complete and utter mishandling of Ukraine-Russia crisis....all of that sh&t has contributed to inflation.

Now where is @Cincydawg supposed to move? Gotta get out of Georgia.

Putin watches on as Eastern European nation passes law favoring Moscow amid violent protests | Fox News
won't let me read the article, just showing me video of Lindsey Graham....who no one should take seriously, ever. And it continually astounds me that he actually has power in this country. like, who are these retards that keep voting for him?

Yes- Bill Burr is for the babies and children.   So long as they aren’t Jewish.  Fucking moron.

Okay... Indulge me. What's the deal with the Bill Maher hate? I don't get it.

I think there's a degree where the Right hates him because he's Bill Maher, and the Left hates him because he's ostensibly on their side but doesn't always follow the party orthodoxy 100% so he must be cancelled.

I watch his show. I think for decades he has been committed to the idea of bringing together people for different opinions and talking things out respectfully--a rarity today. I don't always, or hell, often, agree with him. But I do think he's thoughtful about his opinions, his opinions are based on his sincere individual beliefs rather than party ideology, and that if he says something, you can trust that it's something he honestly thinks, right or wrong.

It's that simple.  And it's not that people hate him, it's that the loudest voices are always the ones on the ends of both spectrum, so nobody in the middle is going to go online and vocally support other moderates.  The people who are as extreme one way or the other, are half hated and half beloved.  If you are in the middle, people just nod and agree, and don't go on Twitter rants supporting you

Bear in mind, I don't think he's anywhere near a moderate. He's a lefty. He just isn't afraid to publicly disagree with the Left when he privately disagrees with the Left.

So they hate him because he's a heretic to the cause. And the Right hates him because he's a lefty.

I just think he's funny and puts together a good and thoughtful show.
