There is no solution, that's the problem.  You can't just fix a decades-long buildup of absurdity.
There is no problem, that's the solution.  Nobody thinks what you think they think, or hardly anyone does, and they are irrelevant.

You create problems and then claim they have no solution, which to me is just whining, in this case about a nonexistent problem.

You're right.
The U.S. will be the best, top-dog country forever and ever.

What percentage of the population today do you think believes that?

Hint:  It's miniscule.  Virtually nonexistent, except in your head.

It should be that, because it was set up to be that.

Every country has that goal.  But we'll accomplish it because.....we want it more?  We're smarter?

Well any criticism of the country is met with a WRONG response.  No matter the criticism.  Maybe they just don't like the messenger and let that cloud their red, white, and blue eyes.

Used to.

Used to be.

The downfall has been in place for 100 years.

Anyway...

A segment of our population wants to be like Europe (most have never actually been there). They are not aware that the vast majority of Europeans can speak English - not because they have to, rather they want to. Many would love to live here. Anecdotally, I know several of those people. Poopoo that as you will. I don't care. Europeans, sans the French, are generally enamored with the USA.

I wonder why? (Actually, I don't wonder why, because I know why.)

Another segment wants to be like Cuba (and most have never been there). Why have so many Cubans (and Haitians and Venezuelans, etc.) left for the USA? Why do they continue to try?

I wonder why? (Actually, I don't wonder why, because I know why.)

I see plenty of complaints about our country here, and elsewhere.  I've never heard anyone claim everything is perfect.

I just filed my income taxes, I am resigned to it of course, but I fully understand much of those monies will be wasted.  I also know our borrowing binge may well be the end of us.  I don't know when.  Folks we elect seem to believe we can borrow without limit.

As long as all of that borrowing feeds the war machine or social welfare programs, both voting bases are happy.  Who opposes it until a bridge collapses?

I muse about folks being elected to really do something about the deficit.  The choices would be so painful, they'd never get reelected, if they really tried.

It's inherent in a "democracy" (defined broadly).  Games and bread.  And maybe we can continue to borrow without limit.  Everybody else is doing it.

What a weird position to assume of people, that actually liking the country, means they think it has zero room for improvement.

In my experience the people who complain most bitterly about how terrible the US is, have never been outside of the US.

It's a fantasy position, something made up about which one can complain.  Now, there are plenty who think the US is the best country in the world (by whatever metric), and in my experience they haven't traveled much either.

I have never visited one I prefer over this one as a place to live, Canada would probably be my second choice.  Denmark was nice.  They have issues also.
