University of Georgia professor Jonathan Peters, who has written about leaks at the court, has noted that Roe isn’t the only high-profile case where there’s been a leak. The New York Tribune, for example, published a “running account of the court’s deliberations in Dred Scott,” the infamous 1857 decision that declared African Americans couldn’t be citizens.

“Supreme Court leaks are rare, but they are hardly unprecedented,” Peters wrote in 2012. “The court, just like our other public institutions, is made up of political animals. We shouldn’t be shocked when they act that way.”

You cannot have someone leaking in order to influence the freaking Supreme Court.
I don't think it's going to influence them.  I'm guessing the intent was alert Congress to codify something, which won't happen until the filibuster is gone.  And once again the party in power will make moves to consolidate that power, as though they'll never lose it, only to have it bite them in the ass when they don't.

yeah, no.

It is completely unprecedented. There have been leaks about which way a certain justice was leaning or about some private deliberations, sure- but those were already incredibly rare and incredibly minor to what just happened. There's NEVER in the history of the court been an entire majority draft opinion leak for the world to see. It's literally never happened. That means it's unprecedented.

Now whatever news outlets that received it obviously should've published it- it's 10000000% news worthy. And I'm also against abortion but I'm also vastly more vehemently against the government trying to tell a person what they should do with their own body- if they don't want to have a baby- they don't have to have a baby. And quite frankly- someone that would go through with an abortion would probably make a sh*tty parent and probably shouldn't have a kid anyway. Regardless, that's not something the government should have any role in.

well, there are already protests outside the court. those protests happened almost immediately. which- that's fine they have that right. Over 2/3rds of Americans agree with Roe v Wade- there is going to be a huge amount of outside public pressure now on them all- and all it will take is one to feel the pressure and change their mind to swing the decision the other way.

My opinion on this is strong and has never waivered.

This issue has no place in the Federal Government. Or any government. It should not be a political thing.

This is a decision that can only be made by the woman and her partner (if he knows, of course).

I've always believed this, even though I'm adopted and very grateful to the woman who decided to give birth to me, rather than abort me. My parents spent over $20K to get me. In 1967.

People out there are trying like hell to adopt kids. So, have it, and give it up for adoption.

clearly an attempt to put massive outside pressure on the courts final decision. pretty disgusting that someone would do this- no matter what views they held. these supreme court justices are human. they'll feel the pressure. all it takes is one person to change their mind.

they should find who did this and throw them in a prison cell for the maximum length.

So as to motive I have not figured out how the dems would benefit from this

The law would revert back to each state instead of the federal gov

Was the leak done to give the dems a focused agenda for the upcoming mid terms

Was it done for the congress to do an end run with some type of legislation

My gut feeling is that someone was very pro choice and felt desperate

I dont think any benefit will come for either side from this other then a renewed packing the court campaign
They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

While I fully agree- the fact that this was leaked is ver disturbing.  Fairly obvious that some knew it was coming.  A disgusting attempt to wake up the base for the party and get the news off their numerous and constant failures- and lack of leadership.
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

In a brand new interview Bill Gates ex-wife Melinda rips his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein- and says she met Jeffrey Epstein once because she wanted to see who this man her husband was becoming BFF's with was. She says just based off the one meeting she did not like him, felt grossed out by him and felt he was an abhorrent, awful person. She said she made it very clear to her husband Bill that she didn't like Epstein. When asked about Bill and Epstein's friendship she said any other questions on Bill and Epstein's relationship are for Bill to answer. Gates and Epstein met in 2011- three years after Epstein had already been convicted and plead guilty in Florida for having sex with underage girls and becoming a registered sex offender.

An email from Bill Gates to a friend the day after he had met Epstein at Epstein's home in 2011....."his lifestyle is very different, and kind of intriguing, although it would not work for me. A very attractive Swedish woman and her daughter dropped by and I ending up staying there quite late."

Bill Gates maintained a relationship with Epstein until the day Epstein died. For him to lie about their friendship and say he barely knew him is comical. NYT Times investigation proved that Bill Gates has repeatedly lied about the depth of his friendship with Epstein- and that he was also meeting with Epstein without the Gates foundation or his wife Melinda being aware of it- and that they had even traveled together multiple times on Epstein's private jet- "The Lolita Express"....*vomit emoji*

Hopefully more and more will come out about this and it will be the last time we have to ever publicly see or hear of that narcissistic phony f**k stick dweeb Bill Gates.

Predictably no shortage of folks saying the Court is banning abortion.

Isn’t that the nature of a modern communication or landscape? They will literally always be no shortage of people being aggressively wrong about almost everything, and we will have a great deal of access to highlight/amplify their wrongness.

I would have called that the worst idea I’ve seen in a while, but CNN plus existed like three weeks ago, so it technically avoids the basement.
