Ahhh, so the government can also punish you for engaging in the legal/political process. Good to know.
You are just now noticing this?  Where do you think the Florida government learned this?

A Burbank based, style company- attempting to intimidate- but it just doesn’t work in Florida.

So what you're saying is you feel good about the government, either side, imposing consequences on businesses for engaging in political speech, as long as it's short of jailing people?

I guess we have different outlooks on this. But as long as you're fine with the potted plant in charge or Gavin Newsom handing out those consequences, your position makes coherent sense.
Well, I am not really excited about the government going after anyone. However, Disney should have stayed out of that sandbox if they didn't want to get dirty. They stuck their nose into politics and are getting a lesson in how that can come back to bite you.

All of that said, you are probably correct. The Florida gov't probably should not have retaliated the way they did. It does show some pettiness. However I also don't believe that Disney should have had the perks that it has now.

But what gets me is that the left (not you, but the left in general) is complaining about Disney's right to free speech but are going ballistic over the very real possiblity that Musk is going to restore those rights on Twitter. A classic example of talking out of both sides of their mouths.

Sigh, I guess I thought we’d have some agreement that it was not a good thing.

But I suppose agreement is in short supply all over.

Wouldn’t that imply that opposing the government at any point is opposing the people? That seems flimsy at best.

(FWIW, one can actively oppose teaching certain things to those kids, and still find fault in parts of that law. The weirdest thing is that those pols didn’t even include glory holes in the law. Seems like they don’t have an opinion there)
We'll know a lot more come November, right?

We certainly learned a lot about this topic from the Virginia elections last year too, yes?

Parents want their schools back. They want their kids to learn to read, write, solve math problems, learn natural sciences.

While we're clearly split on the first paragraph, we're mostly in agreement with the last two.

If Florida had stripped Disney of its handouts independent of a spat over some law, I'd applaud it (there are a couple of interesting discussion points about the pros and cons of those handouts to various businesses, but that's another story).

The twitter about face is mostly silly, though I'd have a slight nit to pick that no one really has "rights" on twitter, other than the owner having the right to host or not host what it wants. That said, the owner was someone they tacitly agreed with before. Now it's someone they don't agree with, and the same rules apply. And even if one didn't think Elon would live up to the free speech promises, it's his sandbox now, and them's the breaks.

If they think the election was stolen they can say it

If they think Trump is a racist they can say it

what effect will this have

Savage tactics.. my ex wife was wonderful at them.  My current wife is no stranger to them.  Those born with plumbing interior to the vessel are gifted with savage tactics intrinsically.

It's defined as fluidly transitioning from specific to general without warning and with fancy speed, leaving an adversary confounded and dazed, and claiming victory before the tactic can be identified.

Theyre in play here.

Let's be damn clear.  Not a single person I know who is a rational human being gives a simple damn about lgbqlmnop community one way or the other- they're just people.  People, including us, do weird shit.  And noble shit.  And all kinds of in between.

The issue is Disney using their platform to promote fringe lifestyles.  A platform where they themselves employ savage tactics... they point back as if this is an assault on a group of people and it is absolutely not that at all... it is them using their platform to engineer change while targeting the most vulnerable of our species.  Period.

Same with the teachers union and in public schools.  Same with network media, print media, and social media- all pretending science is maliable to the whims of their will...

Remove the name Disney and let those idiots speak about what they will... theyve a right to.  And we have a right to call them whatever we want to call them either in support or ridicule... but... hide behind the corporate veil and from drivers seat of an institution that has clout greater than just about any other?  ..... thats a problem.

Them acting as if victims?  That.... is rich.  They are victims because they are finding resistance to is their platform to foster change that represents a small but powerful fraction of our population.  Theyre victims because they are not being allowed to victimize.  It's not a lot different than a rapist claiming to be a victim because they weren't allowed to rape- the horror.  The unfairness.  The freakin absurdity.

Are ya being obtuse? (@Cincydawg will get that)....

The entire premise of owning the media et al is to control the narrative and force the agenda of the small group of radicals... right now we're to believe some of these groups account for as much as 40% of the population?  ..... and people follow the herd.  People are afraid, because they lack fortitude, to speak what they believe and watch as others pretend they're legion.... and they're not.

I wager as soon as musk takes the reigns the next victim will be the scores and scores of robots.  Poof- gone.  That alone will even the along field.

Like it or not, and I don't, Twitter and other social media functions are considered by the users to be public property and they believe their rights are protected.. . Which they aren't. They're at the whims of those who control it- and in this case a board of directors that hardly represented 5% combined of ownership prior to musks run on them... same with disney/abc/ESPN,  fox, NBC and cbs.. all providing a perspective that these fringe groups are mainstream, and they aren't even close.

And the interesting thing is nobody would give a single red damn about someone else's life choices of they weren't told to... which means the separation amd strife is purposeful.

Musk has already stated he intends to get rid of non humans on twitter

I cant wait to see the lefts reaction

If a laptop is discovered discussion of it wont be banned for an election

If a party feels they were cheated in an election discussion of it wont be banned

Its a new day and thank God
