That guy will be in jail someday. Or at least he should be.
The older I get, the weirder I feel about our flippancy when it comes to our bloodlust for jailing and firing people.

We went up to our building deck last evening for some sparkling wine and soicisson, howver you spell that, and bubbly.  The tree is a 90 foot tulip poplar, in bloom.  Gorgeous day, downtown in background thought the tallest building is technically in midtown.

The leaves on trees are pretty much full out.

the courts and judges have their job and duty

a judge rarely sticks their nose into something for no reason

Speaking of which, actual testimony from Johnny Depp’s cross-examination from the attorneys of his ex-wife Amber Heard, whom he’s suing for defamation, presented without context:
----
Attorney: “You dipped your finger in paint after suffering an injury?”
Jack Sparrow: “Yes that was after writing on the walls, the blood had dried as it were, and so I stuck my finger into a can of paint and also mineral spirits to put my verbal messages onto the wall.”
----
Attorney: “You would agree with me, there was quite a bit of damage to the house after this incident in Australia, correct? And you don’t remember the television breaking, do you?”
Jack Sparrow: “I remember there was a, I believe it was a coffee cup stuck into the screen or a plate…”
----
Attorney: “You could’ve also defaced the painting by drawing a penis on it, didn’t you?”
Jack Sparrow: “I don’t know about that. I don’t remember drawing a penis on a painting.”
Attorney: “Given the state you were in, it’s entirely possible you did that, even if you don’t remember it to this day, correct?”
Jack Sparrow: “Drawing a penis on a painting was not the first thing on my mind.”
----
Attorney: “And you may have been drunk in that video, correct?”
Jack Sparrow: “There’s a possibility of that.”
Attorney: “You poured yourself a mega pint of red wine, correct?”
Jack Sparrow: “A mega pint?”
----
Jack Sparrow: “I wasn’t asking for more ecstasy, I was asking for ecstasy because that is what was requested by Miss Heard…”
----
Attorney: “And one of your good friends you’ve taken drug with before is Marilynn Manson, correct?”
Jack Sparrow: “Yes…we’ve drank together. We’ve had cocaine together maybe a couple of times…I once gave Marilynn Manson a pill so that he would stop talking so much.”
----
Jack Sparrow’s text message presented as testimony: “Missing you and yours and await our dangle on the island…You may have to drink for me…I, of course, pounded and displayed ugly colors to Amber on recent journey…I am an insane person and not so fair headed after too much of the drink…Weed, pills…Fine!!! Booze??? My capacity is too large and I won’t stop…Ugly and sad…Oh, how I love it…”
----
Jack Sparrow: “I received some news that was as absurd and grotesque and cruel and then I was shown a picture of what the problem was. It was a photograph…of our bed and on my side of the bed was human fecal matter.”

Why he has not been investigated is beyond me. There is nothing flippant about it. The man is a liar at best.

What is he going to be investigated for?

I ask because the nature of our system has a REALLY high burden of proof for a lot of things. And we’ve not really articulated much of a crime other than … lying about pandemic-related things, I guess?

He may have lied many times, and not committed any crime of course.

Perjury would be different, but very hard to prove, and who is going to charge him anyway?

He will be investigated for crushing the lab leak theory (which greatly hindered the investigation on where this came from), and for indirectly (maybe indirectly??) providing funding for GOF research that President Obama's administration banned.

If these are true, and they seem to be based on emails already released, he will be in a lot of trouble.

Who will investigate?

Congress, starting in January 2023.

It's a shame really. I had a ton of respect for him in the beginning. Then he got flimsy and power hungry and turned into an attention whore.

So he'll investigated for denying a theory and indirectly funding this thing, and that will land him in jail?

And our fearless investigators will be venal pols who we assume do any and everything for money and attention?

Forgive my skepticism about this leading to anything more than noise and directionless hubbub. (I do agree he spent too much time in the limelight. Once he became such a "thing," stepping back into a less visible role would've been better)

For the crime of crushing a theory in the first degree, the jury finds the defendant guilty as charged.
.
Sentencing:  the defendant will be required to wear a pink lab coat for no less than 3 years.
.
You guys are hilarious.

The only crime that I can think of would involve his appearance before a congressional committee and whether or not he lied

other then that Im not aware of any possible crime he has been accused of

If he agreed to fund GOF research after at it had been banned, that would be a crime.
